摘要: It is possible to allow a user to easily distinguish between an event at a place to be resolved and an event at a place having no problem on a path of a PON communication network to be measured. A light intensity distribution of return light is processed in a time-series order to detect an event at each position on a network. A parameter N1 relating to the total number of splitters present on a path of the network is specified, the number N2 of detections of the total number of splitters detected as an event is recognized, and in a case where “N1>N2”, a last detected event is associated with one optical splitter and is further displayed as an “uncertain splitter” in distinction from a normal splitter.

摘要: In an optical fiber monitoring system which detects physical disturbance or other parameters such as temperature or strain of a fiber where a monitor signal is transmitted along the optical fiber and analyzed to detect changes which are indicative of an event, a method is provided for periodically checking proper operation of the optical fiber monitoring system. A fiber disturbance actuator periodically causes a pattern of disturbances of a portion of the fiber at a predetermined location thereon where the disturbance is characteristic of the event to be monitored. The monitor signal is analyzed to detect the pattern of changes and in the event that expected changes are not detected, a warning is issued that the intrusion detection system is not properly operating.

摘要: Methods and systems for automated health assessment of fiber optic links of a fiber optic communication system are described. Tables are used to describe the fiber optic links, including access addresses to communication modules used in the links. Telemetry data representative of operation of the communication modules can be read via the access addresses into a central station. OTDR/OFDR measurement data of fiber optic segments used in the links can be read via the access addresses into the central station. The telemetry and/or OTDR/OFDR measurement data can be used by the central station for comparison against reference data to assess health of the links. The communication modules locally and continuously capture the telemetry data to detect transient events that may be the result of tampering of the links.

摘要: A data communication network includes a plurality of network nodes and a processor. The network nodes each include an optical link and a reflectometry analyzer. The reflection analyzers provide reflectometry results that each provide a characterization of physical and operational properties of the associated optical link. The processor receives the reflectometry results from the reflectometry analyzers, and, for each optical link, analyzes the reflectometry results to determine a fingerprint of the physical and operational properties of the associated optical link. The processor further determines a status for each of the optical links based upon the associated fingerprints, and determines a first path between a first one of the network nodes and a second one of the network nodes based upon a first status of a first optical link in the first path and a second status of a second optical link in the path.

摘要: A data communication network includes a network node and a processor. The network node includes an optical link and a reflectometry analyzer to provide a plurality of reflectometry results, each reflectometry result providing a characterization of physical and operational properties of the optical link at the time of the reflectometry result. The processor receives a first set of the reflectometry results, and calculates a federated fingerprint of the physical and operational properties of the optical link based on the plurality of fingerprints in first set of the reflectometry results. The federated fingerprint is a combination of fingerprints from every section of the optical link. The processor receives a second set of the reflectometry results, and compares each of a plurality of fingerprints in the second set of reflectometry results with a respective corresponding fingerprint in the federated fingerprint. The processor determines whether a physical tampering of the optical link has occurred based upon the comparison.

摘要: An optical detection unit detects a return light and outputs a detection signal. An optical multiplexer/demultiplexer outputs the monitoring light to the optical transmission line, and outputs the return light to the optical detection unit. A processing unit detects a first timing at which the detection signal becomes less than a first threshold value, detects a second timing at which the detection signal becomes less than a second threshold value, and calculates a first change rate of the detection signal in a period between the first and second timings. The processing unit changes the first and second threshold values to calculate the first change rate for a plurality of periods, and, when a second change rate between the first change rates in two adjacent periods is greater than a threshold value, either of the first and second timings in one period is detected as the breakage position.
