Abstract: Examples described herein identify a flow that is considered heavy or high in transmit or receive rate. A filter rule can be assigned to the flow such that packets of the heavy flow are allocated to a queue and core for processing. Various queues and cores can be dedicated to processing received or transmitted packets of heavy flows and various queues and cores can be dedicated to process received or transmitted packets of non-heavy flows. An application acceleration layer can be used to migrate an application to a core that is to process received or transmitted packets of a heavy flow.

Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose methods and systems for accounting for MPTCP data usage. The embodiments include tracking MPTCP data usage of a plurality of applications. The embodiments include reporting the MPTCP data usage information to a data tracking module. Each of the plurality of applications is associated with a UID, which is tagged with MPTCP packets of the plurality of applications. The MPTCP packets of the plurality of applications can be transferred through at least one sub-socket, in at least one sub-flow. The at least one sub-flow can be associated with the system (OS) ID. The embodiments include updating the system UID, associated with the at least one sub-flow, with UIDs of the applications, whose data is included in the at least one sub-flow.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for annotating process and user information for network flows. In some embodiments, a capturing agent, executing on a first device in a network, can monitor a network flow associated with the first device. The first device can be, for example, a virtual machine, a hypervisor, a server, or a network device. Next, the capturing agent can generate a control flow based on the network flow. The control flow may include metadata that describes the network flow. The capturing agent can then determine which process executing on the first device is associated with the network flow and label the control flow with this information. Finally, the capturing agent can transmit the labeled control flow to a second device, such as a collector, in the network.

Abstract: A system and method provide for receiving, at a radio access network (RAN), a radio resource connection (RRC) connection request from user equipment (UE) in a disconnected/idle state; allocating signaling radio bearer (SRB) resources to the UE; sending an initial UE message to a core network; receiving an initial context set-up from the core network; establishing an RRC session with the UE in an RRC connected state; storing the context information; detecting inactivity in the RRC session while the UE is in the RRC connected state; suspending the RRC session and transitioning the UE device from the RRC connected state to an RRC inactive state based on the inactivity; determining a congested/overloaded state in the RAN; receiving an RRC resume request from the UE; and determining, using the stored context information, whether the UE is to be granted prioritized access to the RAN and transitioned to the RRC connected state.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and may include receiving congestion information for an environment in which a user equipment (UE) is operating; receiving a first request to deliver content to the UE; determining that the environment in which the UE is operating is experiencing congestion based, at least in part, on the congestion information; determining a re-try interval based, at least in part, on the congestion information; and deferring delivery of the content to the UE until the re-try interval has expired. In one example embodiment, the method can include provisioning one or more policy rules for a service data flow associated with the content and communicating the indication indicating that delivery of the content has been deferred to a charging system to set charging information for at least one of a user associated with the UE or a provider of the content.

Abstract: A method provides for receiving network traffic from a host having a host IP address and operating in a data center, and analyzing a malware tracker for IP addresses of hosts having been infected by a malware to yield an analysis. When the analysis indicates that the host IP address has been used to communicate with an external host infected by the malware to yield an indication, the method includes assigning a reputation score, based on the indication, to the host. The method can further include applying a conditional policy associated with using the host based on the reputation score. The reputation score can include a reduced reputation score from a previous reputation score for the host.

Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium and apparatus for changing a quality of service for data packets that are delivered over-the-top are disclosed. For example, the method includes a processor that identifies the data packets as video data packets that are delivered over-the-top in a communication network, changes the quality of service associated with the data packets from a best effort quality of service level to a higher priority quality of service level, monitors the data packets until no video data packet is identified in the data packets and changes the quality of service associated with the data packets back to the best effort quality of service level from the higher priority quality of service level.

Abstract: A network processor may receive a request from an endpoint device to increase a priority of traffic associated with a first quality of service class indicator, which is associated with a first packet data session quality of service label, and may increase the priority of the traffic in response to the request by sending an instruction to a network element to adjust a mapping of the first quality of service class indicator to a second packet data session quality of service label for the traffic. The network element may label packets in the traffic with the second packet data session quality of service label instead of the first packet data session quality of service label, and components of the network may process the packets labeled with the second packet data session quality of service label with a greater priority than packets labeled with the first packet data session quality of service label.

Abstract: A system for transferring a frame within an Ethernet network of a vehicle. The system includes an Ethernet switch, first and second feature modules and a NAM. The Ethernet switch includes first and second ports connected respectively to the first and second feature modules. The NAM: receives a priority request message from the second feature module; generates a priority response message indicating information for the second feature module to set a priority level of a frame; and transmits the priority response message to the second feature module. The Ethernet switch: receives the frame from the second feature module at the first port, where the frame has a first bit indicative of the priority level and a second bit indicative of a port of the first feature module; and forwards the frame, based on the first and second bits, to a corresponding one of the queues having the priority level and for transmission to the port of the first feature module.

The method includes: receiving, by a first device, a first packet sent by a second device, where the first packet carries a first label, and the first label is determined based on a cycle in which the second device sends the first packet; determining, by the first device based on the first label, whether the first packet is a normal packet; if determining that the first packet is a normal packet, determining, by the first device, a second packet based on the first packet, where the second packet carries a second label; and sending, by the first device, the second packet to a third device in a first cycle, where the second label is determined based on the first cycle.
