    摘要: An image process apparatus has: a halftone process section for performing a halftone process on image data input from an image reading device which reads a document image; and a block average process section, wherein the halftone process section generates a continuous pattern in a fashion of a line structure by performing a dither process on the image data input, and the block average process section divides the image data input into a plurality of blocks whose centers approximately correspond to a centerline of the line structure generated by the halftone process section, calculates an average value of pixel values in each block, and replaces the pixel values in each block with the average value calculated.

Since the first and second edges, if detected, permit smoothing, a look-up table is not needed, and even a long-range unevenness can be smoothed without a smoothing range being limited to a predetermined region.

The method includes the steps of: deriving image characteristic information of a predetermined area, which includes adjacent pixels and is located in a vicinity of an image-processing object pixel other than the adjacent pixels, from information of the adjacent pixels residing in the predetermined area, both the adjacent pixels and the image-processing object pixel being included in the input image; and applying a sharpness-enhancement processing to the image-processing object pixel, based on the image characteristic information. The image characteristic information includes at least one of a sum of differential signal absolute-values between the adjacent pixels residing in the predetermined area, a variance of each signal value of the adjacent pixels residing in the predetermined area and a standard deviation of each signal value of the adjacent pixels residing in the predetermined area.

For the pixel selection, a pixel closest to the center position computed from the positional coordinates may be selected, rather than the center of gravity. Also a dot may be generated at the center position of the quantized pixel group.

    摘要: A parameter representing whether an effective density pixel exists in an objective image is calculated. As to each interest pixel in the objective image having one pixel neighboring a downstream side in a first direction, the interest pixel is defined as an effective density pixel when a first condition and a second condition is an effective density pixel are satisfied, and in other case, the interest pixel is defined as an ineffective density pixel. The objective image is converted to an update image on one-line reduced lines in the first direction. When the objective image converts one line in the first direction, the number of continuous pixels of the effective density pixels spatially continuing is calculated based on each parameter.
