摘要: A radio communication system has a random access channel for the transmission of data (214) from a secondary station to a primary station. Such a channel is intended for use by secondary stations having data (214) to transmit to a primary station while not actually engaged in a call. Before the transmission of its data (214), a secondary station transmits a message (302) that provides information on the length of the data transmission (214), and may include format information relating to the data (214). This scheme is particularly effective when combined with a scheme signaling availability of random access channel resources, for example by use of an availability (AV) message (402). In this case, a primary station can signal future availability of resources that are currently in use.

摘要: The invention relates to a wireless network with several network nodes which each comprise a radio device and of which one forms a transfer network node which is designed for the transmission of data between at least one concealed network node and all other network nodes. One of the network nodes forms a central network node for the control of the radio traffic. The central network node is designed for transmitting frame synchronization data for the formation of frames used in each radio device. The transfer network node serves for the exchange of certain data of the central network node with the concealed network node. The central network node is designed to carry out the exchange of the data between the transfer network node and concealed network nodes as regards the assignation of a sub-frame lying within a frame.

摘要: A distributed radio system with multiple transceivers for simulcasting and selective processing of received signals is provided. The distributed radio system includes a plurality of processing elements and radio frequency transmitter elements interconnected by an Ethernet network. The system designates a number of radio frequency transmitter elements to be elements of a radio frequency simulcast set. The system utilizes relatively few frequency channels, and transmits at very low power levels, and thus causes minimal interference with an existing macrocellular environment. When signals transmitted from a mobile unit are detected by multiple radio receivers, the system is able to select a desired radio receiver signal for processing. When selecting a received signal for processing, the system utilizes a distributed processing technique that performs the selection process throughout several levels. The distributed processing utilized by the selection process may be synchronized. A selection time window may be utilized for making the selection process for the upstream-received data traffic. The system utilizes a centralized data link layer. Transmissions are implemented by a two-level multicast technique. The data transmission traffic is bundled. Selective management of the Ethernet switches is performed by the system.

摘要: The mobile ad hoc network includes a plurality of wireless mobile nodes and a plurality of wireless communication links connecting the nodes together. The nodes advertise using variable beacon signals. The method includes neighbor discovery with beacon signal detection. The method includes searching for the variable beacon signals at a given mobile node using an initial detection rate and at an initial detection frequency, and increasing a detection rate from the initial detection rate up to a maximum detection rate while searching for the variable beacon signals at the initial detection frequency. The detection frequency may also be varied.

摘要: A mobile terminal (MT) and a method of connecting a plurality of devices on a computer network to a packet data network (PDN) over a single wireless link. In a first embodiment, the MT requests and receives from the PDN, a network IP address comprising a plurality of unique individual IP addresses. The number of IP addresses may be defined in a subscription agreement. The MT then utilizes a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server in the MT to distribute the plurality of unique individual IP addresses to the plurality of devices on the LAN. In a second embodiment, the MT requests a separate PDP Context for each device on the LAN requiring an IP address. The MT utilizes a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) session between the devices on the LAN and the MT to virtually separate the physical network connection and distribute individual IP addresses to the plurality of devices on the LAN.

摘要: The invention provides persistent communication for address routed communication in an environment where the communication session address changes. The invention is appropriate for any address routed communication, and in particular to packet based (e.g., UDP/IP and TCP/IP) communications to mobile cellular units as the units transition or move between supporting cells. The invention provides a technique to store address information and transitory information related to the session to allow continuation of the session at the new address, thereby reducing or eliminating the need to set up the session at the new address. One application is for streaming multi-media sessions. Another application is for internet protocol (IP) telephony. The invention provides embodiments where the techniques are performed within the mobile unit, or performed in combination with a proxy server that is part of the supporting cellular system.

摘要: In a packet data transmission and reception system a media access control (MAC) message is broadcast by a base station to a plurality of mobile stations. The MAC message contains packet data transmission scheduling information which allows the base station to preemptively control mobile station access to traffic channels in order to maximize the efficiency of packet data transmissions and allow scheduling consideration including priority access, quality of service and maximum bytes per transfer. The MAC message consists of a control frame structure which comprises scheduling parameters including MAC IDs fields, activity fields, and a field representing the number of free traffic channels in a cell. These parameters enable multiple mobile stations to share, in a time multiplexed fashion, traffic channels for packet data transmission on CDMA based mobile communication systems.
