    Abstract: A mobile communications system is proposed in which mobile communications devices are arranged to transmit signals to and to receive signals from a base station using one or a subset of available sub-bands, with the base station being configured to move the mobile communications devices between the sub-bands. An anchor sub-band is also provided on which idle mobile communications devices camp until they are moved to one or more other sub-bands in addition to or instead of the anchor sub-band.

    Abstract: Example communication methods and apparatus are described. One example method includes receiving a first message by a terminal device from an access network device, where the first message indicates the terminal device to be handed over to a target cell or to be redirected to a target frequency. If the handover to the target cell fails or the redirection to the target frequency fails, the terminal device searches for an acceptable cell or a suitable cell. According to some embodiments of this application, an emergency call delay can be reduced.

    Abstract: A gNB establishes a list of PUCCH sSCells for PUCCH sSCell switching by receiving UE capability information from a UE during an initial registration procedure, the UE capability information indicating whether the UE supports PUCCH cell switching; determining whether the UE supports PUCCH cell switching; and transmitting an RRC configuration including a PhysicalCellGroupConfig information element, the PhysicalCellGroupConfig information element including a sequence of pucch-sSCell information elements to configure multiple cells as PUCCH sSCells. The gNB may then activate, deactivate, or switch the PUCCH sSCell by sending a MAC CE. The UE is configured to use the PUCCH sSCell or the RRC configured PUUCH cell either semi-statically or dynamically.

    Abstract: An antenna system having an antenna array including at least first and second phased array antennas, and a method for field-calibrating the antenna array. Before and after a handover period, communication with respective first and second external satellites or other communication systems is performed using both the first and second antennas. A first beam is formed prior to the handover period. During a first portion of the handover period: a second beam is formed for the communication with the first satellite using the first antenna; the second antenna is deactivated for external communication; and the second antenna is calibrated. During a second portion of the handover period, the second antenna is reactivated for a handed over communication with the second satellite by forming a third beam using the second antenna, while the first antenna maintains its communication with the first satellite via the second beam.

    Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards avoiding a misconfiguration that uses a Long Term Evolution (LTE) and new radio dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) carrier as an LTE carrier and new radio primary secondary cell carrier concurrently for a dual connectivity mobile device. Network equipment can detect the misconfiguration and prevent its usage, or if already configured, deconfigure the LTE DSS secondary cell during setup of a dual connectivity mobile device. Alternatively a dual connectivity mobile device can detect the misconfiguration and notify the network to terminate one of the carriers. Information regarding the misconfiguration can be saved in the mobile device to proactively avoid the dual misconfiguration going forward. Such information can be communicated to other mobile devices, as well as the network.

    Abstract: The present technique provides a terminal device for use with a wireless telecommunications system, the terminal device comprising a receiver, a transmitter and a controller, wherein the controller is configured: to conduct a first measurement of a parameter associated with a radio signal transmitted by infrastructure equipment of the wireless telecommunications network and received by the receiver; to determine whether the measured parameter meets a predetermined criteria; and when the measured parameter is determined to meet the predetermined criteria, to conduct a second measurement of a parameter associated with a radio signal transmitted by infrastructure equipment of the wireless telecommunications network and received by the receiver.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a method to assist an user equipment re-location to an earth-based network while the user equipment is connected to a satellite-based network or camps on a satellite-based network, said method comprising the steps of, for the satellite-based network, at the time of registration of the user equipment to the satellite-based network, retrieving and storing an earth-based service preference indicator for the user-equipment. Then, when the user equipment at a given position proceeds to a subsequent action with the satellite-network it is connected to or it is camping on, receiving, from the user equipment, with the action-related exchanges, the user equipment position, reading the earth-based service preference indicator by the re-location function of satellite-based network, evaluating available earth-based networks, in case, while considering the earth-based service preference indicator, suitable earth-based network for setting up service relation for said user equipment is available at the given user equipment position, sending to the user equipment an indication to perform a re-direction attempt to said suitable earth-based network.
