    Abstract: A tracking system for determining the location of a tracking badge within a structure. The tracking system includes a plurality of beacons each configured to transmit a beacon identification signal with a beacon identifier, and a first tracking device that includes a button. The first tracking device is configured to receive one or more of the beacon identifiers. The first tracking device is configured to determine the beacon of the plurality of beacons that is closest in proximity to the first tracking device when the button is activated. The system includes a first gateway configured to receive from the first tracking device the beacon identifier of the closest proximity beacon, and a positioning engine that includes location information including a location of each of the plurality of beacons. The positioning engine is configured to identify a location of the closest proximity beacon. A computing system is configured to receive the location of the closest proximity beacon and transmit an alert to a plurality of transceivers.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for wirelessly locating users in a venue via their respective portable device are taught. Wireless transmitter devices positioned at different locations in the venue are used. Each transmitter device transmits an identifier to the portable device. Some transmitter devices can be part of a wireless-power transmitter that is additionally capable of charging portable devices. A software on the portable device is able to determine the closest transmitter device and, by finding its identifier in a database, its location within the venue. Once the portable device is aware of its location, it can be used to control nearby external devices. Through information stored in the database, the software is also able to display the location of other users and usage statistics of the venue. Different methods of ensuring that portable devices are paired with the closest transmitter device are taught.

    Abstract: Configuring stoppable floor information set for an elevator cabin of an elevator system. The elevator system of the present invention comprises an elevator cabin, an elevator control device and a wireless signal module which is configured to wirelessly receive a request of registering a destination floor from a passenger's personal mobile terminal and send a corresponding destination floor of the elevator cabin to the elevator control device based on the request of registering the destination floor; wherein the wireless signal module is further configured to obtain landing floor information corresponding to the elevator cabin from the elevator system, and the elevator system configures an stoppable floor information set corresponding to the elevator cabin based on the obtained landing floor information through a handheld terminal and/or the wireless signal module. The stoppable floor information set configured in the present invention is accurate.

    Abstract: Provided is an in-store dual-mode communication system in which shelves are disposed within a commercial space. A server is coupled to the Internet and/or a wide-area network and is configured to send and receive communications. Also provided are light-based messaging units that are located on and/or attached to such shelves, each: 1) having a light source, 2) receiving a communication from the server, and 3) in response to receipt of such communication, turning the light source on and off so as to broadcast a digital message that was included within such communication, as a binary-encoded digital signal corresponding to on/off states of the light source. A user device: (i) receives, via its light sensor, and then decodes the binary-encoded digital signal from a light-based messaging unit in order to obtain the digital message that corresponds to it; and also (ii) communicates with the server via its wireless interface.

    Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating an aroma map is disclosed. The computer-implemented method includes learning one or more aromas associated with one or more items. The computer-implemented method further includes identifying a presence of an item within a venue based on comparing one or more aromas detected by one or more sensors located within the venue with one or more learned aromas associated with the item. The computer-implemented method further includes identifying a micro-location of the item based, at least in part, on a location of the one or more sensors which detected the aroma. The computer-implemented method further includes generating an aroma map geospatially indicating the micro-location of the item within the venue.

    Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) sensing system (10) is provided and comprises RF sensing nodes (200) having a RF node transceiver (210), and a node controller (220) with a RF sensing controller (223) sensing RF signals from other RF nodes (200).
