Abstract: A method for managing wireless device communications includes establishing active, persistent, and repetitive communications with a wireless device operating in a coverage area of a local wireless network. In an example, the local wireless network is an overlay to a portion of a macro wireless network. The repetitive communications include placing a call to the wireless device, completing a call connection to the wireless device, sending a message to the wireless device, receiving and processing a response to the message from the wireless device, and persistently repeating a call function of the placing a call, completing a connection, sending a response, and receiving and processing the response until a specified termination event. In an example, the termination event is a power off of the wireless device.
A restricted device category may change dynamically. For example, a device 20 that incorporates a camera may be classified in the restricted category in some local wireless network applications (e.g., an operatic performance where photographs and video are prohibited) but classified as an allowed device in other local networks. Alternatively, a device having a camera may have its data functions locked to the local wireless network 10 but other functions (voice and text) are allowed.-

Abstract: An apparatus and method for improved data speeds for wireless device are discloses. The wireless device locates at a first location within a first cell, and detects a failure to acquire SIB of the first cell. A waiting period is started in response to the failure to prohibit selecting the first cell during the waiting period. After determining that the wireless device has left a vicinity of the first location in the first cell, the wireless device connects to the telecommunication network via the first cell before an expiration of the waiting period. According to the disclosure, the wireless device does not need to wait for the expiration of the waiting period before recom1ecting to the first cell. The wireless device does not need to connect to a lower data rate cell during the waiting period when the first cell is available. The user experience is improved.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for implementing a spectrum access controller (SAC) which protects a protected entity from excessive interference are described. A spectrum access controller (SAC) divides the coverage contour of the entity to be protected into geospatial zones called protection zones. Each protection zone is protected against interference from a neighboring area called an interference neighborhood. Each interference neighborhood is divided into interference zones based on their interference potential or distance from the protection zone. Potential interferers are grouped based on their location in the interference zones or interference potential. The interference quota for the protection zone is divided among the potential interferers in each group/zone. The quota may be divided unequally among groups/zones, e.g., based on their overall interference potential or proximity to the protection zone, or number of interferers. Each interferer is assigned a transmit power or effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) to meet its individual interference quota.

Abstract: There is provided a wireless end-user device configured to assign one of classifications to each of end-user applications to allow for a differential network access control of the end-user applications. The classifications include a background classification and a foreground classification. The differential network access control includes a service usage control policies applicable when a network service is available via a wireless modem, the service usage control policies including a first policy that allows data associated with a first end-user application of the end-user applications to be communicated via the wireless modem, and a second policy that defers the data associated with the first end-user application to be communicated via the wireless modem until a state change occurs. The wireless end-user device is configured to dynamically select from the service usage control policies based on whether the background classification or the foreground classification is assigned to the first end-user application.

Abstract: A method implemented in an access and mobility management function, AMF, node that implements at least one congestion control process is provided. A message including a first indication that the message is exempt from the at least one congestion control process is received by a UE. The message is forwarded to the SMF either with the exempt indication or, if this is missing, an indication that the AMF applies a congestion control. The SMF, only when receiving the forwarded message with the additional information inserted by the AMF, carries out a validation of the message of the UE, thus preventing that a UE tags a message to be exempted from congestion control, when it should be not be exempt.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for performing actions to protect a wireless access point (AP) from repeated incorrect security credential input attacks. For example, a combination of techniques are implemented to block a wireless station (STA) from submitting innumerable number of incorrect security credential inputs to connect to the wireless AP by using embargo lists to block the wireless STA media access control (MAC) address after N number of consecutive unsuccessful attempts to connect to the wireless AP, using telescopic delays to make it progressively harder for the wireless STA to attack (that is, repeatedly submit incorrect security credential inputs) at regular short intervals, and/or determining position of the wireless STA of the attacker and then block attacks from all wireless STAs at the determined location.
