Abstract: A communication method and an apparatus are provided. The method includes: When an access and mobility management function network element determines that a protocol data unit PDU session status of a terminal device does not meet a first condition (where the first condition in this application is a condition related to the PDU session status of the terminal device) of a network slice after first time expires, it is determined to reject access of the terminal device to the network slice, so that a PDU session resource in the network slice can be properly configured and used.

Abstract: This application provides a communication method and apparatus, and relates to the field of communication technologies, to resolve the following problem: resource shortage or communication congestion easily occurs on a network slice instance because the network slice instance is selected based on a fixed correspondence between a network slice and a network slice instance. The method includes: learning, by an access and mobility management function network element, that load information of a first network slice instance reaches or exceeds a threshold, where the first network slice instance serves a first session; sending indication information to a session management function network element corresponding to the first session, where the indication information is used to trigger establishment of a second session; and determining a second network slice instance for the second session, where the first network slice instance and the second network slice instance correspond to a same network slice.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for supporting traffic management capabilities under network control. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device comprises receiving one or more User Equipment (UE) Route Selection Policy (URSP) rules from a network node, receiving traffic control information associated to the one or more URSP rules, and performing one or more actions based on the one or more URSP rules and the traffic control information. In this manner, the network is given control of slice traffic management such that the network can force the UE to perform an action(s) when the network thinks that such action(s) is beneficial.

A Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit, WTRU, generates a registration request indicating that the WTRU has been temporarily connected to a hosting network and that the WTRU requests re-registration to a home network of the WTRU, sends the registration request intended for the home network, receives from the home network a hosting network-specific congestion-related registration reject message including a hosting network specific back-off time value, waits for time corresponding to the back-off time value has elapsed, and sends a further registration request to the home network. The back-off time value is determined by the home network from a number of WRTUs susceptible to attempt re-registration and a capacity of the home network to handle simultaneous registration requests.

Abstract: The embodiments in this invention extend distributed unit (DU), central unit (CU) and control plane of F1 (F1-C) capabilities so that differentiated DRBs of F1-U are placed on differentiated transport network components of equivalent QoS. This is achieved by a transport-aware DU and CU that can map each F1-U DRB into appropriate OSI layer 2-4 headers and can, subsequently, store such mappings. The F1-C interface is extended to distribute the layer 2-4 headers acquired from the transport network controller to the DUs and CU. A new control interface TN-C is defined between transport network controller and CU/DU. Furthermore, a trivial mapping of those embodiments is applicable for the N3 interface as well, which solves the same problem on the backhaul transport network.

Abstract: There is provided a wireless end-user device configured to assign one of classifications to each of end-user applications to allow for a differential network access control of the end-user applications. The classifications include a background classification and a foreground classification. The differential network access control includes a service usage control policies applicable when a network service is available via a wireless modem, the service usage control policies including a first policy that allows data associated with a first end-user application of the end-user applications to be communicated via the wireless modem, and a second policy that defers the data associated with the first end-user application to be communicated via the wireless modem until a state change occurs. The wireless end-user device is configured to dynamically select from the service usage control policies based on whether the background classification or the foreground classification is assigned to the first end-user application.

Abstract: A UE is in a connected mode over a non 3GPP access and in an idle mode over a 3GPP access. The UE receives a NOTIFICATION message from a core network node over the non-3GPP access. The UE determines, when performing a service request procedure, MT_acc=0 as an access category to be associated with the service request procedure upon receiving the NOTIFICATION message. The UE checks whether an access attempt for an access category is barred or allowed. When the access category is allowed, the UE sends a RRC connection setup request to a base station and transmits a SERVICE REQUEST message to the core network node after a RRC connection is established.
