Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for multi-carrier network operation are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of performing channel scrambling in a multi-carrier network, wherein the multi-carrier network includes a first component carrier (“CC”) and a second CC between a base station and a user equipment (“UE”) comprises receiving a Cell Radio Network Temporary Identifier (“C-RNTI”) and a cell identification (“ID”) for at least one of the first CC and the second CC; and using the RNTI and the cell ID to perform scrambling of information transmitted on at least one of the first CC and the second CC.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is configured to control a discontinuous reception (DRX) in a mobile communication system. The method includes: interrupting the DRX operation when a radio resource control (RRC) connection reestablishment procedure is initiated; transmitting an RRC connection reestablishment request message from the user equipment to an evolved node B (ENB); receiving an RRC connection reestablishment message from the ENB to the user equipment; and resuming, if the received RRC connection reestablishment message contains new DRX setting information, the interrupted DRX operation according to the new DRX setting information. The DRX operation can be interrupted or resumed at a proper time point when an RRC connection is reestablished or reconfigured or a handover is performed, thereby reducing power consumption in the user equipment.

Abstract: A method is provided for transmitting, by a user equipment (UE), a connection request message in a wireless communication system. The UE receives a configuration of a specific value of a configurable establishment cause from a network, initiates a service whose type corresponds to the specific value, sets the configurable establishment cause to the specific value, transmits a radio resource control (RRC) connection request message including the configurable establishment cause which is set to the specific value to the network, and receives an RRC connection setup message from the network. The RRC connection setup message is determined to be transmitted, by the network, based on the configurable establishment cause set to the specific value, which indicates the type of the service, by the UE.

Abstract: When a UE in an LTE system enters the RRC_IDLE state, only the S5/S8 EPS bearer context is retained, and the S1-U, S1-AP and radio bearers are released. These bearers have to be re-established on per UE basis when the UE returns to RRC_CONNECTED state. A number of UE applications may send small data frequently, which causes the UE to toggle between IDLE and CONNECTED states. This leads to a great deal of signaling overhead as the radio bearer and the S1-U bearer must be frequently re-established as the UE transitions between IDLE to CONNECTED states. Described herein are methods and systems that provide an always-on S1-U bearer to reduce this signaling overhead.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a reference signal in a wireless communication system. In the method, in order to dynamically switch an uplink (UL) Demodulation-Reference Signal (DM-RS) according to the communication environment, such as CoMP and MU-MIMO, a parameter set for generation of a reference signal sequence is configured to include a Virtual Cell Identifier (VCID) parameter configured by information of a total of 9 bits and a cyclic shift hopping initial value parameter cinitCSH, which is 9-bit information representing one integer value among 510 integer values. Therefore, it may be possible to achieve dynamic transmission or reception of a reference signal and channel estimation through the dynamic transmission or reception of the reference signal even when the communication environment dynamically changes as in a Cooperative Multiple Point transmission and reception (CoMP) scenario.
