Abstract: A method for user detachment when a handover or change occurs in a heterogeneous network is provided. The method includes: a user equipment (UE) is handed over or switched from a source network to a target network; a network element on a network side determines whether to detach the UE from the source network, and if yes, the network element on the network side detaches the UE from the source network. A system and a device for user detachment when a handover or change occurs in a heterogeneous network, and another method for user detachment when a handover or change occurs in a heterogeneous network are also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments for providing a timely indication that a wireless transaction has been completed, using a command-based timer solution, are provided. These embodiments include receiving a first command, associated with the wireless transaction, from a reader; initiating, using an applet, a first command-based timer when the first command is received; issuing, using the applet, an activity timeout signal when the first command-based timer expires before a second command is received from the reader; and providing an indication that the wireless transaction has been completed in response to the activity timeout signal. In some embodiments, the command-based timer solution may also include canceling, using the applet, the first command-based timer when the second command is received before the first command-based timer expires; initiating a second command-based timer when the second command is received; and issuing the activity timeout signal when that the second command-based timer expires.

Abstract: A user equipment and a circuit-switched fallback method thereof are provided. An initial base station sends a radio resource control connection release message containing the redirection frequency list to the UE. The redirection frequency list includes at least one redirection frequency. The UE determines a priority of the at least one redirection frequency according to a current registered LAI, a learning database and a piece of signal reference information of the redirection frequency list. Accordingly, the UE executes a circuit switch fallback procedure according to the priority of the at least one redirection frequency.

Abstract: A vehicle wireless unit and a method of operating the same. The vehicle wireless unit and method may be used to temporarily halt a non-interrupted data flow between the vehicle wireless unit and a cellular network over a first cellular link according to a first radio access technology (RAT), which purposely causes the vehicle wireless unit to enter an idle mode and results in the first cellular link being released. Once the first cellular link is released, the vehicle wireless unit and method may search for and, if found, establish a second cellular link with the cellular network according to a higher-order radio access technology (RAT). The vehicle wireless unit and method may be particularly useful with autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles.

Abstract: Techniques are described of forming a mesh network for wireless communication. One method includes broadcasting, from a first node connected to a core network, a beacon signal, receiving a connection establishment request from a second node in response to the broadcasted beacon signal; determining a radio resource availability associated with a plurality of radios of the first node based on the connection establishment request, and establishing a connection with the second node using a radio of the plurality of radios based on the radio resource availability. In some cases, the radio resource availability may include a number of active connections associated with one or more radios of the plurality of radios of the first node.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and computer-readable storage media that mitigate implantable medical device (IMD) power drain associated with stalled telemetry sessions are provided. In one embodiment, an IMD includes a housing configured to be implanted within a patient, a memory and a processor that executes executable components stored in the memory. The executable components include a communication component configured to receive a communication request from an external device via a telemetry communication link established between the IMD and the external device. The communication request can comprise a request for data. The executable components can also comprise a throughput monitoring component configured to monitor uplink throughput associated with transmission of the data by the IMD to the external device via the telemetry communication link based on reception of the communication request. The communication component is configured to terminate the telemetry communication link based on the uplink throughput being below a threshold value.

Abstract: The electronic devices described herein are configured to enhance user experience associated with a network connection when transitioning the network connection between access points. Determinations to scan for available access points and transfer the network connection to an alternative access point are based on connection attributes and/or access point attributes that are compared to scan criteria and transfer criteria. Further, the scan criteria and transfer criteria are updated, or adjusted, according to machine learning techniques such that the determinations to scan for access points and transfer between access points are tuned on a per-device and/or per-user level to fit patterns of use of a particular device and/or user. Over time, the updates to the scan criteria and transfer criteria based on machine learning provide an increasingly consistent, high quality user experience while roaming efficiently between access points.

The method includes determining whether a Scheduling Request (SR) is pending, determining, when the SR is pending, whether an uplink transmission resource is available in a current Transmission Time Interval (TTI), determining, when the uplink transmission resource is not available, whether a Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) resource is configured for transmission of the SR, and initiating, when the PUCCH resource is not configured, a random access process in a primary cell. The random access method and apparatus of the present invention is advantageous to reduce the waste of transmission resources.

Abstract: A technology for device to device (D2D) communication scheduling is disclosed. A D2D device can be synchronized with a base station of a cellular system. A sub-frame symbol boundary can be identified in the cellular system for the D2D communication. A resource for a D2D communication can be allocated from the D2D device to another D2D device within the sub-frame boundary of the cellular system. The D2D device can be switched to perform a D2D communication with another D2D device in proximity with the D2D device, wherein the other D2D device is substantially synchronized with the base station of the cellular system. The D2D device can communicate with the other D2D device within at least one symbol boundary time within the selected subframe.
