    摘要: A luminaire includes a microcontroller and program logic that calculates the operational age of a light engine that includes a plurality of light emitting diodes connected in series. The program logic uses changes in transition voltage to calculate the operational age of a light engine. Changes in forward voltage across the light engine are used to detect sudden catastrophic failure of individual light emitting diodes. In response to the sudden catastrophic failure of one of the light emitting diodes, the program logic adjusts the power provided to the light engine based on the calculated operational age of the light engine. For example, the operational age of the light engine may be compared with a warrantied lifespan, and the power may be adjusted to increase the likelihood of compliance with the warranty.

    摘要: A system and method provide fail-safe operation of a lighting system. A lighting level detector is used to obtain a baseline lighting level for a low-intensity light. If the detector measures less than the baseline level when an occupancy sensor determines the space is unoccupied, a high-intensity light is energized and an indication is provided to a user that the low-intensity light has failed. A method provides daylighting operation of a lighting system. An occupancy sensor can have Wi-Fi functionality to enable remote configuration of the sensor. A line voltage occupancy sensor can include an interface with low voltage devices. An occupancy sensor can include an integral interface to enable an external control system to override the sensor's normal logic under emergency conditions. An occupancy sensor can include an active temperature compensation feature. An occupancy sensor can also incorporate an automatically adjustable coverage area.

    摘要: A decision support unit for an outdoor lighting network (100) is disclosed. The outdoor lighting network includes a plurality of lighting units (LU1-LU8) grouped in a plurality of zones (30, 31). The decision support unit includes a controller (20) including safety monitor module (23) arranged to determine a safety factor for each of the plurality of zones (30, 31). The safety factor for each the plurality of zones 30, 31 is determined using at least one factor that represents an aspect that contributes to an assessment of each of the plurality of zones' safety. The decision support unit may also include a decision module (24) that determines a repair priority of a faulty lighting unit (LU1-LU8) using the safety factors determined by the safety monitor module (23).

    摘要: An LED backlight (15) having a plurality of LED groups (19) each including a plurality of LEDs (17) connected in series is tested. The LED groups (19a to 19c) are driven with a constant current respectively, and operating voltages (Vf1 to Vf3) of the LED groups (19a to 19c) are measured respectively. The LED backlight (15) is determined as normal when all of differences between the operating voltages (Vf1 to Vf3) are less than a reference value, and is determined as abnormal otherwise. With this, an open circuit failure and a short circuit failure of the LED (17) can be detected. A leakage failure of the LED (17) may be detected by switching an amount of a drive current used for driving with the constant current, to a minute current. Thus, the LED backlight is tested certainly and easily.
