摘要: An electrostatic discharge (ESD) robust design for an input device such as a stylus is disclosed. The input device can include one or more components, such as one or more Schottky diodes, that can be damaged by ESD events. To reduce the likelihood of damage to sensitive components, the parasitic capacitance between sensitive conductive paths and reference ground paths of the input device that could otherwise provide electrostatic discharge paths can be reduced (arranging current limiting resistance at specific locations among sensitive components, creating physical separation between sensitive conductive paths and reference ground paths), shielding can be added to shield the sensitive electronics from ESD pulses, and high dielectric breakdown material can be added to prevent ESD pulse entry or exit of not otherwise protected circuit parts.

摘要: A method forms an air gap metal tip structure for (ESD) protection. The method forms an air chamber, from an upper substrate and a lower substate disposed below the upper substrate, within which a first metal tip and a second metal tip are disposed. The first and second metal tips are disposed along at least one horizontal axis parallel to the upper and lower substrates. The chamber includes a portion between points of the metal tips, such that oxygen trapped in the chamber is converted into ozone responsive to an arc between the metal tips to dissipate the arc, and the ozone is decomposed back into the oxygen responsive to an arc absence between the metal tips to maintain the ESD protection for subsequent arcs. An under fill level is disposed between the lower and upper substrates, and above one or more layers having the first and second metal tips.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a system and method for providing electrostatic discharge protection. A probe card assembly is provided which is electrically connected to a plurality of input/output channels. The probe card assembly can be contacted with a secondary assembly having an interposer electrically connected to one or more wafers each wafer having a device under test. Voltage can be forced on ones of the plural input/output channels of the probe card assembly to slowly dissipate charges resident on the wafer to thereby provide electrostatic discharge protection. A socket assembly adaptable to accept a 3DIC package is also provided, the assembly having a loadboard assembly electrically connected to a plurality of input/output channels. Once the 3DIC package is placed within the socket assembly, voltage is forced on ones of the input/output channels to slowly dissipate charges resident on the 3DIC package to thereby provide electrostatic discharge protection.

摘要: A data interface is disclosed, which includes an electrostatic discharge circuit, and a charge transmitting circuit connected to a binding wire through the electrostatic discharge circuit; the charge transmitting circuit includes a first capacitor, the charge transmitting circuit transfers charges in the first capacitor to a parasitic capacitor of the electrostatic discharge circuit and a parasitic capacitor of the binding wire, to generate a first voltage signal and output the first voltage signal through the binding wire. According to the data interface, charges in a charging capacitor and a parasitic capacitor are redistributed, which could not only reduce a power consumption loss caused by a parasitic capacitor in a communication channel but also effectively reduce time delay. In addition, the use of dual-wire communication is avoided by using single-wire communication, and the manufacturing costs are reduced relative to low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS).
