Abstract: An intervertebral implant having an open lattice structure formed by a plurality of elongate struts, including a first strut and a second strut. In addition, the body includes a contact surface configured to confront a bone plate, the contact surface including a node defined by an intersection of the first strut and the second strut. The implant includes an enlarged contact member disposed at the node, wherein the enlarged contact member has a substantially flattened outer-facing surface forming part of the contact surface. In addition, the enlarged contact member has an outer perimeter edge that extends beyond the node, and at least a portion of the first strut and at least a portion of the second strut extend inward from the enlarged contact member toward a central core of the body.

Abstract: Disclosed is a surgical alignment and distraction frame and associated methods of use that facilitates correction of a sagittal imbalance. Abstract: A coupling device includes a receiving part with an accommodation space for accommodating a head of a bone anchoring element, an opening, and a recess forming two legs for receiving a rod, and a pressure member arranged at least partially in the accommodation space. The pressure member is adjustable from a first configuration where a topmost end of the pressure member is at a first axial position and the head is pivotable in the accommodation space to a second configuration where the topmost end of the pressure member is at a second axial position below the first axial position and the pressure member provisionally lock the heads. At the second configuration, a latching connection is formed to prevent the pressure member from being adjusted back towards the first configuration. The latching connection is releasable to adjust the pressure member from the second configuration back towards the first configuration.

Abstract: The present invention includes a novel procedure and corresponding medical devices for a Purcutaneous Spinal Interbody Fusion (PSIF). In PSIF, the surgeon performs the entire operation percutaneously without the use of a microscope, endoscope, or magnifying loupes. An adjustable retractor system is disclosed that enables the surgeon to percutaneously perform the surgery through accessing the facet joint (and later disc space) that was created by said retractor system. This retractor system provides the surgeon a safe area to work and operate without fear of damaging nerves, blood vessels, or other tissue. An expanding trial may be inserted into and removed from the disc space through the interior of the retractor system to determine the proper size for the expandable cage. The retractor system also enables the expandable cage to be inserted into the disc space.

Abstract: Various implants and surgical techniques for dynamic spinal tethering systems are discussed. In an example, a spinal tethering system can comprise a flexible elongate spinal tethering cord and a plurality of vertebral implants connecting the cord across at least four spinal levels. In this example, each vertebral implant of the plurality of vertebral implants can include a dynamic head coupling each vertebral implant to the cord. The dynamic head of each vertebral implant can be configured to share cord tension across multiple spinal levels by releasing a first tension generated at a first level between two vertebral implants of the plurality of vertebral implants to generate a second tension across two spinal levels between three vertebral implants of the plurality of vertebral implants, wherein the second tension is lower than the first tension.

Abstract: A medical device system for implantation in a hip joint for providing at least one artificial hip joint surface for a patient is disclosed. The medical device system comprises an artificial acetabulum surface being at least partly bowl-shaped. The artificial surface comprises a largest cross-sectional distance being variable such that the medical device system can be inserted through a hole in the pelvic bone, from the abdominal side of the pelvic bone, the hole having a diameter smaller than said largest cross-sectional distance. Finally, the artificial acetabulum surface comprises at least two parts which are adapted to be interconnected to form an interconnected medical device when in use.
