摘要: Systems and methods of simulating dental treatments are disclosed. A method may include capturing a first 2D image of a patient's face, including the patient's teeth, building a parametric 3D model of the patient's teeth and gingiva based on the first 2D image, developing a simulated outcome of a dental treatment of the patient's teeth by rendering the parametric 3D model with the patient's teeth in one or more positions and/or orientations corresponding to the treatment goals of the dental treatment plan, and rendering a second 2D image of the patient's face with gingiva and teeth according to a simulated outcome of the dental treatment plan. As noted herein, the dental treatment plan may include orthodontic and/or restorative elements. The simulated outcome may correspond to estimated outcomes and/or intended outcomes of the dental treatment plan.

摘要: A system for accounting for changes in surface topology may include an intraoral scanner and a computer system comprising instructions that, when executed, causes the computer system to: receive initial scan data of a first surface portion of tissue and a second surface portion of tissue, the scan data of the first surface portion of tissue having a first surface topology, generate a demarcation between the first surface portion and the second surface portion, receive rescan data of an intraoral cavity of the patient that includes surface data of the first surface portion of tissue having a second surface topology, update the data of the first surface portion of tissue by modifying only at least a portion of the data according to the demarcation using at least a portion of the rescan data, and output a 3D model of the patient's teeth based on the updated data.

One method for adjusting an image of a smile may generally comprise receiving a three-dimensional (3D) digital model of a dental arch of a patient, receiving a digital facial image of the patient which includes an image of one or more teeth of the patient when smiling, registering the 3D digital model to the one or more teeth of the patient from the digital facial image, correcting the 3D digital model for scale and distortion to create a corrected 3D digital model, and overlaying the corrected 3D digital model onto the digital facial image.

The palate and/or the buccal shelf area depict one or more implants. The system determines a non-moveable zone about the model via receiving a user input identifying the one or more non-moveable zones. The system generates multiple electronic versions of aligners configured to fit over the one or more implants and the patient's teeth. Wearing of successive aligners cause the patient's teeth to move in a direction toward a correction, while the aligners have non-moveable zones that remain in a fixed location in relationship to the one or more implants.

Methods include generating a clinical crown mesh including visible surfaces of a clinical crown of a tooth; generating a parametric tooth model representing an average of multiple etalon teeth of the same tooth type; fitting the clinical crown mesh with the parametric tooth model to create an interim tooth model; and morphing the interim tooth model to mimic an anatomical shape of the clinical crown mesh. Fitting the clinical crown mesh with the parametric tooth model includes coupling point pairs on surfaces of the clinical crown mesh and the parametric tooth model, where a weighting factor is assigned to each point of the clinical crown mesh or parametric tooth model, and transforming the point pairs according to their weighting factors to cause the point pairs to converge.

The method includes adjusting the virtual camera parameter to determine a 3D position of the corresponding patient tooth. The method includes moving the model tooth of the first 3D model from the first position to a second position. The second position corresponds to the 3D position of the corresponding patient tooth. The method includes generating a second 3D model comprising the model tooth of the first 3D model in the second position.
