    摘要: The production of bioceramic powders and bioceramic implants are described and an additive manufactured implant used for tissue reconstruction and a method for manufacturing the implant are disclosed. The implant may be fabricated at least in part from suitable bioceramic powders produced using tailored mineral compositions tailored to the unique material properties of the tissue being replaced. The implants may be tailored to a three-dimensional shape and mechanical properties of the tissue defect designed to be replaced by surgical implantation of the device. Native tissue repair and regeneration at the site of implantation are also provided.

    摘要: The invention relates generally to generation of biomimetic scaffolds for bone tissue engineering and, more particularly, to multi-level lamellar structures having rotated or alternated plywood designs to mimic natural bone tissue. The invention also includes methods of preparing and applying the scaffolds to treat bone tissue defects. The biomimetic scaffold includes a lamellar structure having multiple lamellae and each lamella has a plurality of layers stacked parallel to one another. The lamellae and/or the plurality of layers is rotated at varying angles based on the design parameters from specific tissue structural imaging data of natural bone tissue, to achieve an overall trend in orientation to mimic the rotated lamellar plywood structure of the naturally occurring bone tissue.

    摘要: An expandable intervertebral implant is provided for insertion into an intervertebral space defined by adjacent vertebrae. The expandable intervertebral implant includes a pair of outer sleeve portions and an inner core disposed between the outer sleeve portions. Movement of the inner core relative to the outer sleeve portions causes the outers sleeve portions to deflect away from each other, thereby engaging the expandable intervertebral implant with the vertebrae and adjusting the height of the intervertebral space.

    摘要: This disclosure describes manufacturing of a device configured to guide bone and tissue regeneration for a bone defect. A method may include receiving a three-dimensional digital model or scan representing an anatomical feature to be repaired, generating a simulated membrane using the three-dimensional model, the simulated membrane being configured to cover the anatomical feature to be repaired, generating a digital two-dimensional flattened version of the simulated membrane, and generating code or instructions configured to cause a three-dimensional printer or milling device to produce a trimming guide that includes an opening corresponding to the flattened version of the simulated membrane and that further includes a cut-out configured to hold a premanufactured membrane. The trimming guide may be operative as a guide for marking or cutting the premanufactured membrane through the opening while the premanufactured membrane is held in the cut-out.

    摘要: Porous biocompatible structures suitable for use as medical implants and methods for fabricating such structures are disclosed. The disclosed structures may be fabricated using rapid manufacturing techniques. The disclosed porous structures each have a plurality of struts and nodes where no more than two struts intersect one another to form a node. Further, the nodes can be straight, curved, and can include portions that are curved and/or straight. The struts and nodes can form cells that can be fused or sintered to at least one other cell to form a continuous reticulated structure for improved strength while providing the porosity needed for tissue and cell in-growth.
