摘要: Efficient and adequate disposal of medical infectious waste is proportional to the reduction of the spread of infectious diseases and the disease itself among humans. The essence of this invention is that infectious medical waste is in a timely, fast, efficient, simple, and environmentally friendly safely disposed of and turned into inert-municipal waste. Previous methods and devices for the disposal of infectious medical waste involved long-term procedures for the collection, sorting and storage of infectious medical waste, which increases the risk of secondary infections. This invention skips the process of collecting, sorting and storing medical infectious waste, and the entire process in the invention takes place in three unbreakable phases whose end product is municipal-inert waste. It is important to emphasize that with this invention, even the smallest amount of infectious medical waste will be disposed of immediately in an appropriate manner. And as a result, a maximum control over all medical infectious waste is achieved.

摘要: Gamma ray and e-beam irradiation provided efficient sterilization of certain self-assembling peptides (including RADA16 in solution) without substantial degradation of the major peptide, while, e.g., another self-assembly peptide, QLEL12 was significantly degraded following irradiation. Irradiation sterilization enhances the rheological property of, for example, RADA16 hydrogel once applied to tissue at a physiological pH. The rheological property increase can result in higher efficacy in a variety of biomedical applications.

摘要: A food processing facility having application apparatus located within the interior space of the food processing facility for applying a PAA solution to food, a mixing container for containing a PAA solution having a PAA solution concentration, with the mixing container connected to the application apparatus for delivering the PAA solution to the application apparatus, and a PAA gas sensor, located within the interior space, for sensing a PAA airborne concentration. An actuation control system connected to the PAA gas sensor is adapted to receive a measure of the PAA airborne concentration and, when the measure of the PAA airborne concentration exceeds a reference value, changes one or more of the PAA solution concentration of the PAA solution in the mixing container, the flow rate of the fresh air ventilation system, and the flow rate of the exhaust air system.

摘要: Opening and closing a door without the use of one's hands is facilitated. For instance, an apparatus can comprise one or two rotatable rings. For a one ring apparatus, the ring can have an opening so that the inner cross section of the opening of the ring can be pushed with a forearm or knee so that the ring will rotate and the person can then pull on the ring with his/her forearm or knee to open the door. In a two-ring apparatus, two adjacent rings, both with openings, can comprise similar push surfaces. When pushed on the pushed surfaces, the rings will rotate and the cross sections of the openings of the rings come into contact with one another, creating a surface against which a forearm or knee can pull on to open the door. A rotation plane converter can turn a doorknob using the apparatus.

摘要: An electrical discharge irrigation includes a power source to produce a first voltage, a circuit coupled to the power source to convert the first voltage to a second voltage, a discharge capacitor to receive the second voltage from the circuit, a transistor and/or a controlled rectifier coupled to the discharge capacitor to receive the second voltage, and an output tip. This tip is coupled to a transistor and/or a controlled rectifier and includes a first end, a second end, a longitudinal axis extending between them, an electrode located in an interior space of the tip to receive an electrical charge from the a transistor and/or a controlled rectifier and to release an electric discharge, and a ground return. The ground return is an outside surface of the tip. A space between the electrode and the ground return holds a conductive medium in contact with the electrode and the ground return.
