摘要: The present invention generally relates to the use of small particles, such as micro particles or nanoparticles, to produce a therapeutic scar such as “trans-mural” scarring or other desired “deep tissue” scarring. In one preferred embodiment, these particles can be delivered to a target location by an implant. More specifically, these particles can be incorporated into the structure of implants or into the coatings on implants. In another preferred embodiment, these small particles can be delivered directly with a catheter by electrophoresis or hydraulic pressure.

摘要: A surgical device includes a substrate and a first coating that covers at least a portion of the substrate. The first coating includes a first polymer. The first coating having antibiotics dispersed in the first polymer such that the first polymer releases the antibiotics as the first polymer degrades. A second coating covers at least a portion of the first coating. The second coating includes a second polymer. The second polymer includes an alginate. The second coating has a hemostatic agent dispersed in the second polymer such that the second polymer releases the hemostatic agent as the second polymer degrades. The hemostatic agent is selected from epinephrine, tranexamic acid, chitosan and oxidized regenerated cellulose. In some embodiments, systems and methods are disclosed.

摘要: A method of detecting the presence or absence of a sealant applied to a textile graft includes the steps of: providing a textile graft having a first surface and an opposed second surface; providing a water soluble masking agent; applying the water soluble masking agent to at least a portion of the first surface of the textile graft; providing a sealant solution; providing a visual indicator; applying the water insoluble sealing agent and the visual indicator to the second surface of the textile graft; and removing the water soluble masking agent after the step of applying sealing solution. The second surface has visual indication of the visual indicator and the first surface is substantially free of visual indication of the visual indicator. An implantable textile graft includes the selectively applied visual indicator.

摘要: Disclosed methods include formulating azobenzene-based polymer networks to induce a modulus change in a highly crosslinked polymer, in vivo, with no external heat requirement and using a benign light as the source of stimuli. A modulus change can be achieved via a coating on the substrate and within the bulk of the substrate via photoexposure. The azobenzene-based polymer network can be formed as a coating or in the bulk of a material from either a glassy composition comprising methyl methacrylate (MMA), poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) or a soft material comprising of long-chain difunctional acrylates. The disclosed technology also includes methods of biofilm disruption and removal from the surface of a substrate, and includes methods of inhibiting biofilm growth and cell attachment to a substrate.
