Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking a sports object are provided. A sports object includes a core assembly arranged within a shell and having multiple components to receive and transmit signals corresponding to movement of the sports object, as well as to support operational tracking of the sports object. The core assembly includes a multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB) comprised of a plurality of sections. The PCB is configured to at least partially envelope the energy storage device at a geometric center of the assembly. The PCB is connected to one or more antennas (e.g., via one or more contacts), which may be arranged on one or more sections of the PCB, arranged on a surface of the shell, and/or in a volume within the shell.

Abstract: A football tracking system used for locating real-time location of a football during play is disclosed. The system includes a tracking chip embedded in the football and a sensor network including a plurality of sensors positioned along at least the sidelines and the goal lines. The chip transmits the location of the football to the sensor network and one or more sensors receive the location of the football. A handheld device is held by one or more referees and the device is adapted to receive the location of the football along with the location of a sensor. A display screen on the device displays the real-time location of the football for enabling the referee to officiate the game.

Abstract: User activity including both athletic activity (e.g., running, walking, etc.) and non-athletic activity (shopping, reading articles, etc.) may be monitored and tracked by an athletic monitoring and tracking device and service. The user activity may be used to award a user with an amount of virtual currency to encourage the user to continue various activities. In one example, users may use the virtual currency to purchase or otherwise acquire various products, services, discounts and the like. A user may track an amount currency earned and/or needed relative to an amount required to acquire a desired product or service. Additionally or alternatively, a visual appearance of a user device (e.g., a watch or athletic activity band) may change based on the user's activity level, an amount of virtual currency earned and the like.

Abstract: An electronic tracking system for assisting a user in determining distances to landmarks and objects in a sporting environment includes a user tracking system for determining the location of a user, a heads up display for displaying information to the user, and a processor operable to communicate with the user tracking system and the heads up display. The heads up display is designed to be worn on the user's head, and to display an image within the user's field of view. The processor is programmed to determine a distance between the user's determined location and an object or a landmark on. This information is displayed via the heads up display as a numeric representation of the determined distance.

Abstract: A sports electronic training system, and applications thereof, are disclosed. In an embodiment, a portable performance monitoring system for monitoring an individual's performance during a physical activity includes a motion monitor adapted to be physically coupled to the individual during the activity and a portable electronic processing device adapted to be physically coupled to the individual during the activity. The portable electronic processing device includes a wireless personal-area network transceiver adapted for wireless communication with the motion monitor, a memory adapted to store workout program data, a processor adapted to determine performance information for the individual, and an output adapted to provide feedback to the individual based on the performance information and the workout program data.

Abstract: A device including a visual or audible signaling means and a motion sensor, and logic for activating or controlling the signaling means in response to a sensed motion according to an embedded logic is disclosed. The device may be used as a toy for amusement, and may be shaped like a play ball or as a handheld unit. The device may be powered from a battery, which may be charged from an AC power directly or contactless by using induction or by converting electrical energy from harvested kinetic energy. The embedded logic may activate or control the signaling means, predictably or randomly, in response to the sensed acceleration magnitude or direction, such as sensing the crossing a preset threshold or sensing the peak value. The visual means may be a numeric display for displaying a value associated with the count of the number of times the threshold has been exceeded or the peak magnitude of the acceleration sensed.

Abstract: One aspect of the invention provides a system for monitoring athletic equipment. The system includes: a plurality of antennae positioned around edges of a field, wherein each antenna is configured and adapted to read radio frequency identifications (RFID) within a defined zone; an RFID tag attached to an article of athletic equipment; and a computer in communication with each antenna of the plurality of antennae. The computer is preprogramed with a database defining dimensions of the field. The computer is configured and adapted to process a signal from one or more antenna of the plurality of antenna in connection with the database to determine a position of the RFID tag.

Abstract: A rotation exercising ball structure includes two shells, two pivot seats, two holding members, a weight unit, a first housing, a second housing, and a PCB (printed circuit board). The two shells are combined together to construct a hollow ball. The weight unit includes a mandrel pivotally connected with the hollow ball, two magnets secured to the mandrel, at least one rotation member connected with the mandrel, and a weight connected with the at least one rotation member. The PCB is electrically connected with a Bluetooth transmission device which is electrically connected with a Hall sensor. When the mandrel is rotated, the Hall sensor detects rotation of the magnets and sends information of rotation of the magnets to the PCB, and the PCB processes and transmits the information to the Bluetooth transmission device.

Abstract: The present invention presents an interactive communication training device that can be thrown and caught. The communication training device includes an information display viewable from outside the device, a microphone, a wireless transceiver and a microcontroller. A battery is contained inside the device to power electronic components. The microcontroller performs speech recognition to detect equivalence between speech information present in the microphone signal, and the information shown on the information display. Certain implementations may provide results of analytical speech processing applied to events of detected equivalence between speech information and the information shown on the information display.
