摘要: The invention relates to a process for preparing core-shell particles comprising the steps of (i) providing a dispersion of primary magnetic particles having a mean diameter lower than 200 nm in a solvent; (ii) adding one or more (semi-)metal (oxyhydr)oxide(s) and/or one or more precursor(s) of a (semi-)metal (oxyhydr)oxide to said dispersion; (iii) optionally adding a hydrolysis agent for said one or more precursor(s); (iv) injecting the dispersion in a spray dryer; whereby a (semi-)metal (oxyhydr)oxide shell is formed on the magnetic particles during spray drying. The invention also relates to particles obtainable by said process, to a formulation of said particles in a solvent and to the use of said particles or said formulation for RNA or DNA extraction.

摘要: Many embodiments described herein prevent an aged spirit from degrading due to the oxygen trapped in the headspace without the use of a pump. The aged spirit preservation system may have a cork with an open top, an open bottom, and a channel extending from the open top to the open bottom. The cork may be sized couple to an internal portion of a bottle. The system may even include a sealing device coupled to an outer portion of the cork between the open top and the open bottom. Additionally, the system may include a replaceable cartridge containing an adsorbent media, iron, a salt, and a color-changing indicator. Oxygen from the bottle may be allowed to enter the cartridge and react with the iron via a non-reversible reaction, thereby preventing the degradation of the spirit.

摘要: Provided is a high-loading and alkali-resistant protein A magnetic bead. The magnetic bead can maintain chemical stability under pH 2-14 and has an immunoglobulin G (IgG) binding capacity greater than 50 mg/mL. Further provided is a method for purifying and/or detecting an immunoglobulin, comprising a step of contacting a sample containing the immunoglobulin with the high-loading and alkali-resistant protein A magnetic bead. The alkali-resistant protein A magnetic bead can realize rapid purification of immunoglobulin, saving about 80% of treatment time and reducing total purification costs by 50%. In addition, the alkali-resistant protein A magnetic bead has high alkali resistance. An alkaline method for in situ cleaning can be performed to regenerate the magnetic bead after use. The magnetic bead has rapid magnetic response and good dispersiveness, realizing rapid magnetic bead enrichment, cleaning, and elution. The magnetic bead facilitates automated, high-throughput, and large volume purification of a sample.

The sorbent is capable of rapid and high uptake of one or more compounds and provides quantitative release (recovery) of the compound(s) when exposed to elevated temperature and/or organic solvent. Uses of particular improved grades of mesoporous silica are disclosed.

摘要: Nitric oxide-releasing mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) were prepared using an aminosilane-template surfactant ion exchange reaction. Initially, bare silica particles were synthesized under basic conditions in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). These particles were functionalized with nitric oxide (NO) donor precursors via the addition of aminosilane directly to the particle sol, and a commensurate ion exchange reaction between the cationic aminosilanes and CTAB. N-diazeniumdiolate NO donors were formed at the secondary amines to yield NO-releasing silica MSNs. Tuning of the ion exchange-based MSN modification approach allowed for the preparation of monodisperse particles ranging from 30 to 1100 nm. Regardless of size, the MSNs stored appreciable levels of NO (0.4-1.5 μmol/mg) with tunable NO-release durations (1-33 h) dependent on the aminosilane modification. The range of MSN sizes and NO release demonstrate the versatility of this strategy.
