Abstract: A separator (10) for separating waste (820) from product (810; 2302) in a pre-cut substrate (2600) having one or more cut lines. An inlet feeder feeds the substrate (2600) into the separator (10) along a material path. A separation edge (2500) is disposed in a location downstream of the inlet feeder and defines a line below the plane of the material path. A plurality of punch tools (30; 1800; 1900; 2000) above the plane of the material path, upstream of the separation edge (2500), each has an actuator configured to position the tool in an extended configuration with a contact end of the punch tool (30; 1800; 1900; 2000) disposed below the separation edge (2500), and a retracted configuration with the contact end disposed above the plane of the material path. A controller commands each actuator to position the corresponding punch tool (30; 1800; 1900; 2000) contact end synchronized with the position of the pre-cut substrate (2600) to cause the separation edge (2500) to separate the waste (820) from the product (810; 2302) along the cut lines.

Abstract: An abrasive waterjet system in accordance with an embodiment of the present technology includes a cutting head, a catcher downstream from the cutting head, and a conveyance configured to carry slurry including abrasive material and liquid collected from the catcher toward the cutting head. The cutting head includes a jet-forming orifice and a mixing chamber downstream from the jet-forming orifice. The cutting head also includes a slurry inlet through which the mixing chamber receives slurry including abrasive material and liquid collected from the catcher. The abrasive waterjet system can be configured for substantially closed-loop recycling of wet abrasive material. This can be useful, for example, to increase abrasive material utilization efficiency and to decrease abrasive material disposal costs. These and/or other benefits may be realized both in the context of low pressure abrasive waterjet systems and in the context of high pressure abrasive waterjet systems.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for making window cutouts (22) in a frame material (20) in web form for a membrane electrode unit, wherein, at least in some section or sections, the frame material (20) is processed as a material combination with a carrier web (30), wherein a contour cut (50) that cuts through the frame material (20) is made in the frame material (20) from an opposite side of the frame material (20) to the carrier web (30), while forming a punching chad (201), wherein the contour cut (50) is made without cutting through the carrier web (30), wherein the punching chad (201) is separated from the material combination using a rotatable roller (40, 40a) having a suction opening (402), wherein a suction force is applied to the punching chad (201) via the suction opening (402), with the result that the punching chad (201) is detached from the carrier web (30) by use of the suction force and transported away from the material combination using the roller (40, 40a). The invention furthermore relates to the use of a rotatable roller in making window cutouts.

Abstract: A machine for applying tubular film to objects includes a mandrel about which a tubular film is passed, a perforation assembly for forming a perforation line across a width of the tubular film prior to the tubular film moving onto the mandrel, and a sleeve ejection arrangement associated with the mandrel to separate the tubular film along the perforation line to create a tubular sleeve that is ejected off of the mandrel and onto an object. The perforation assembly includes a perforation unit mounted for movement across the width the tubular film, the perforation unit including a perforation blade that is rotated over the tubular film, to apply the perforation line, as the perforation unit moves across the width of the tubular film.

Abstract: A hole punching machine for use on wet or damp drywall improves ventilation behind the drywall for drying purposes. The machine includes a base position on the floor and against the wall. A pneumatic ram in the base can be extended and retracted to cut a hole in drywall, after any baseboard is removed. The hole can then be covered when the baseboard is reinstalled. The operator can activate the ram using a switch, while standing.
