摘要: A repulpable insulation material includes a batt formed of a mixture of thermoplastic binder fibers and cellulose fibers bound together by the thermoplastic binder fibers, the thermoplastic binder fibers making up about 0.5% to 25% by weight of the batt, the repulpable insulation material having a weight within a range from 1000 GSM to 1600 GSM, wherein subjecting the repulpable insulation material to a repulpability test produces greater than 85% fiber yield.

摘要: A thermoforming method includes forming a skin comprising a plurality of plies thermoplastic resin and fiber, securing an edge of the skin to a mandrel, heating, via a heating element, the skin to a forming temperature, moving a thermoforming apparatus with respect to the mandrel, rolling at least one roller of the thermoforming apparatus along the skin in a direction away from the clamped edge of the skin in response to the thermoforming apparatus moving with respect to the mandrel, and in response to the at least one roller of the thermoforming apparatus rolling along the skin, compressing the skin between the at least one roller and the mandrel, consolidating the plurality of plies of material, and bending the skin to conform to a shape of the mandrel. The consolidated and formed skin is then cooled and removed from the mandrel.

摘要: The present application provides an apparatus that is for producing a fiber-reinforced resin having reinforcement fibers aligned in one direction and that is capable of, with a relatively simple configuration, connecting a preceding reinforcement fiber and a subsequent reinforcement fiber when switching between the reinforcement fibers. An apparatus according to the present invention is for producing a fiber-reinforced resin having reinforcement fibers aligned in one direction, and comprises: an impregnation part which impregnates a reinforcement fiber with a resin; and a switching device which performs switching of reinforcement fibers on the upstream side of the impregnation part, from a preceding reinforcement fiber to a new reinforcement fiber. During the switching operation, the switching device forms a fabric using the preceding reinforcement fiber and the new reinforcement fiber as warp and other fibers as weft so as to connect the new reinforcement fiber with the preceding reinforcement fiber.

摘要: A process for continuous production of z-threaded fiber reinforced polymer composites. The process includes providing a pre-formed fiber fabric including a plurality of fibers and a pre-formed, solidified film having a film thickness dimension, wherein the film includes a heat-meltable base matrix material in combination with a plurality of z-aligned nanofibers disposed within the base matrix material. The film and fiber fabric are advanced in layered relation through a constricting matrix transfer station, wherein the fiber fabric is heated to a temperature at or above the melting point of the base matrix material and the base matrix material progressively melts at an interface with the fabric face and flows with the nanofibers into the fiber fabric in the fabric thickness dimension as the film and fiber fabric move through the matrix transfer station. The matrix transfer station includes a constricting processing gap urging the film towards the fiber fabric through at least a portion of the matrix transfer station.

摘要: Continuous compression molding machines (CCMMs) and methods of continuous compression molding a consolidated thermoplastic matrix composite material are disclosed herein. The CCMMs include a mold, a heat zone heating structure, a consolidation zone heating structure, and a stress relaxation zone heating structure. The CCMMs also include a press structure, a demold structure, and a supply structure. The methods include providing a thermoplastic matrix composite material (TMCM) that includes a thermoplastic material to a CCMM. During the providing, the methods also include heating the TMCM within a heat zone of the CCMM, cooling and consolidating the TMCM within a consolidation zone of the CCMM, relaxing stress within the TMCM within a stress relaxation zone of the CCMM, demolding the TMCM within a demold zone of the CCMM at a mold temperature that is greater than a glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic material, and periodically compressing the TMCM.
