Abstract: An aqueous adhesive composition forms an adhesive layer on a surface of a cloth transport member of an ink jet printing apparatus, the aqueous adhesive composition including a (meth)acrylic-based resin and water, the (meth)acrylic-based resin containing a first (meth)acrylic-based resin having a glass transition temperature Tg1 and a second (meth)acrylic-based resin having a glass transition temperature Tg2 which is lower than the glass transition temperature Tg1, the first (meth)acrylic-based resin including a methyl methacrylate or ethyl methacrylate as one of constituent units. In the aqueous adhesive composition described above, a total content of the methyl methacrylate and the ethyl methacrylate with respect to all the constituent units of the first (meth)acrylic-based resin is 10 to 41 percent by mass.

Abstract: A drying apparatus dries a recording medium on which an image is formed, while conveying the recording medium. The drying apparatus includes a conveying member, a heating device, and a drying chamber, and a path. The conveying member supports and conveys the recording medium in a predetermined conveyance direction. The heating device heats the recording medium conveyed by the conveying member under a high-temperature environment. The drying chamber is arranged on an upstream side of the heating device in the conveyance direction of the recording medium and pre-dries the recording medium conveyed by the conveying member. The path communicates the heating device with the drying chamber.

Abstract: A method which includes printing indicia on landscape fabric using a roll-to-roll printer; and wherein the landscape fabric is configured to have a plurality of characteristics based on the printing requirements of the roll-to-roll printer. The roll-to-roll printer may be a hybrid printer, which suctions the landscape fabric; and wherein the hybrid printer is configured to print on flexible media and rigid media. The plurality of characteristics of the landscape fabric may include a weight per square foot of the landscape fabric; and wherein the weight per square foot of the landscape fabric is great enough to hold the landscape fabric in place by the roll-to-roll printer. The plurality of characteristics of the landscape fabric may include that the landscape fabric has been cut from a sheet which is larger than the landscape fabric in a manner so that at least one edge of the landscape fabric is uniform.

Abstract: A printer device includes a hopper configured to receive a roll of paper, a printing head, a conveyor, a flapper, and a remaining paper sensor. The printing head prints on the paper. The conveyor draws out an end of the paper from the roll and conveys the paper to the printing head. The flapper contacts an outer peripheral surface of the roll and presses the roll against an inner wall of the hopper at a drawing-out point where the paper is drawn out from the roll. The remaining paper sensor provides an indication that an amount paper remaining in the roll has reached a predetermined amount of paper.

The drive unit can drive the detection sensor to move in the direction orthogonal to the substrate feed direction to detect the substrate height.

Abstract: A recording method which uses a water-based ink composition and a treatment liquid containing an aggregating agent, includes: a main scanning to eject the ink composition and the treatment liquid from an ink jet head so as to be adhered to a recording medium while the ink jet head is transferred with respect to the recording medium; a sub-scanning to transport the recording medium in a sub-scanning direction which intersects a direction of the main scanning; and a ventilation step of sending a wind to the recording medium in the main scanning. In the main scanning, by a portion of the ink jet ink head to eject the ink composition and the treatment liquid located upstream in the sub-scanning direction, the ink composition and the treatment liquid are overlapped and adhered to the same main scanning region of the recording medium by the same main scanning, and by a portion of the ink jet ink head to eject the ink composition and the treatment liquid located downstream in the sub-scanning direction, the ink composition is adhered to the recording medium, and when the ink composition is adhered thereto, the treatment liquid is not overlapped and adhered to the same main scanning region of the recording medium by the same main scanning. In addition, when the main scanning is performed, the recording medium to which the ink composition and the treatment liquid are adhered has a surface temperature of 33° C. or less.

Abstract: Methods and devices for controlling a morphology of a printed reactive ink are provided. A substrate may be heated and a volume including at least a portion of the substrate may be saturated with at least one of an active ingredient or an inactive ingredient to a humidity level. Such heating and saturation of the volume forms a controlled printing environment. The reactive ink may then be printed onto the portion of the substrate within the controlled printing environment, wherein the morphology of the printed reactive ink is controlled based on the humidity level of the saturated volume and a temperature of the heated portion of the substrate.
