Abstract: An electrified vehicle may include an electric motor coupled to a battery to propel and brake the vehicle, a pedal generating a pedal position signal including a released position signal, friction brakes configured to provide a stopping force to vehicle wheels, and a controller programmed to control the motor and the brakes in response to the pedal being released to decelerate the vehicle to a stop, and to control the motor and an engine (in hybrid vehicles) to inhibit propulsive torque to the wheels after stopping due to the pedal released position until receiving driver input indicative of a request for moving the vehicle, such as depressing the brake or accelerator pedal, or activating an automated vehicle maneuver, such as a parking maneuver, cruise control, or stop-and-go control. Inhibiting torque may include inhibiting creep torque and/or operating the electric machine to charge the battery when the engine is running.

Abstract: A controller causes a signal to be received by a main control module (MCM) in a controller area network of a vehicle when the vehicle is determined to be speeding or when a set speed of a cruise control would result in speeding. The signal indicates to the MCM that a driver of the vehicle is braking. The signal is caused to be received by the MCM when the vehicle is determined to be speeding regardless of whether the driver of the vehicle is actually braking, whereby cruise control that is engaged is disengaged by the MCM. Such controller is utilized in conjunction with ADA systems, especially ISA systems, for enabling such systems to properly function without specific regard to the particular manufacturer and model of the cruise control module that may be used in a given vehicle.

Abstract: Automated launch torque is provided. An automated virtual launch torque generation (AVL-TG) system may be included in a vehicle, such as a heavy duty truck, that may interoperate with an adaptive cruise control (CC) system to move the vehicle from a standstill or low speed to a CC handover speed. The AVL-TG system may determine a tip-in torque curve configured to mimic a torque curve generated by a human operator's acceleration pedal tip-in from a standstill or low speed. The tip-in torque curve may be represented by torque demand values corresponding to a dynamic pedal saturation level applied over a dynamic pedal rate. The torque demand values determined by the AVL-TG system may mimic an expected or human vehicle operator generated torque request, and may operate to successfully close the clutch and smoothly launch the vehicle from a standstill or low speed.

Abstract: A method of operating an autonomous vehicle includes detecting, based on an input received from a sensor of an autonomous vehicle that is being navigated by an on-board computer system, an occurrence of a driving event, making a determination by the on-board computer system, upon the detecting the occurrence of the driving event, whether or how to alter the path planned by the on-board computer system according to a set of rules, and performing further navigation of the autonomous vehicle based on the determination until the driving event is resolved. The driving event may include a presence of an object in a shoulder area of the road. The driving event may include accumulation of more than a certain number of vehicles behind the autonomous vehicle. The driving event may include a slow vehicle ahead of the autonomous vehicle. The driving event may include a do-not-change-lane zone is within a threshold.
