The lever assembly is shaped to be disposed below the path of movement of the interlock structure of type F couplers in the event of a passed coupler impact and yet be balanced against rocking tendencies due to train action without requiring mechanical restraint. The lever assembly also accommodates the maximum buff, draft and side swinging of the coupler without going solid.

A method and device for removing railroad car draft gear-yoke assemblies in which the yoke is broken or cracked, wherein the device comprises a frame including a rigid elongate base having a pair of upstanding arms, one of which is rigid with the base and the other of which is swingably mounted to move its upstanding end toward the rigid arm under the action of the hydraulic ram carried by the base. After the draft gear carrier iron, coupler, and its key or keying pin are removed, the device is lifted up against the draft gear-yoke assembly, with the rigid arm positioned against the yoke inner end and the swingable arm adjacent a block of metal disposed in the yoke outer open end adjacent the draft gear front follower. The ram is then acutated to compress the draft gear between the block and yoke inner ends so as to free it from the draft gear pocket front stops, after which the draft gear and yoke may be lowered from the draft gear pocket as a unit.

An automatic uncoupling mechanism for couplers comprises a coupler knuckle spindle and a driving unit comprising a cylinder body hinged to a coupler body and a telescopic member; and further comprises a first rotating member, a boss and a boss stopper, wherein the first rotating member comprises a crank hinged to the telescopic member and a rotating part being sheathed on the coupler knuckle spindle. The driving unit unidirectionally drives the telescopic member so that the rotating part drives the coupler knuckle spindle to unidirectionally rotate by the contact of the boss with the boss stopper, realizing coupler uncoupling; and, after the driving unit drives the telescopic member to return to its position, the rotation of the coupler knuckle spindle for achieving coupler coupling is not limited by the rotating part. The present application may reduce the lateral force of the coupler knuckle to the driving unit during the uncoupling process of the coupler, and may cause the spring to drive the coupler knuckle to rotate rapidly and lock the coupler during the coupler coupling process.

An apparatus for rotating a bearing assembly secured in an aperture at one end of a male connection member is provided. This apparatus includes an L-shaped member one leg of which engages a first surface formed on a longitudinal portion of a shaft member of such bearing assembly and a second leg which during use will be aligned with a bore formed in such outer end of the shaft member. A nut-like member is secured to an outer surface of such second leg which can be engaged by a tool capable of applying a force thereto for rotating such bearing assembly. Such nut-like member has a cavity formed therein adjacent an outer surface thereof. Such apparaus further includes a device for securing such apparatus to such bearing assembly in a removable manner.
