摘要： High-speed methods to close tubular plastic wrappers may include providing a packaging film on a mandrel in the form of a hollow tube, forming a folded surface by rotating the hollow tube and mandrel while counter-rotating a plate having a plurality of folding blades, to form a plurality of folds that define the folded surface, substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hollow tube, each folding blade engaging a portion of the protruding tube portion, applying heat and pressure to the folded surface to form a closed end, inserting the tampon into the tube, and closing the first end of the tube. The film material comprises at least one thermoplastic surface, and the mandrel has a first end extending from a revolving platform and a second end, distal the first end. The mandrel can rotate with respect to the revolving platform on which it is mounted.

摘要： An overwrap feed station wraps a product with an overwrap material by drawing the overwrap material around the product to form a tube around the product as the product moves through the feed station. The feed station is configurable in first, second, or third configurations based upon a desired location of a longitudinal seal to be formed on the tube around the product. A first former is configured to guide the overwrap material through the entrance of the feed station so that longitudinal edges of the overwrap material overlap on a first side of the tube during wrapping of the product. The second former is configured to guide the overwrap material through the entrance of the feed station so that longitudinal edges of the overwrap material overlap on a second side of the tube during wrapping of the product. The third former allows forming the seal on the corner.

The first conveyor includes a plurality of carriers, mounted rotatably on it and equipped with gripper heads. Each carrier is associated with a respective motion-inducing device designed to move the carrier in such a way as to enable the carrier to interface and interact with a respective gripper element of the second conveyor.

摘要： The invention comprises a novel apparatus for making unitary completely wrapped packages. In the apparatus, a series of loads are fed into a wrapping apparatus onto a wrapping conveyor assembly comprised of a plurality of conveyors. The film is continuously wrapped around the load and the conveyor assembly to form a spiral bundle with the load being carried off by the top portion of one conveyor and the wrap being carried off the bottom portion of another conveyor so that the load and wrap are carried off at the same speed onto a take-off conveyor. The spiral stretched film web is sealed and severed between adjacent loads by a cutting and sealing apparatus to form a six sided compressive wrap around each load.

摘要： A packing machine, wherein an indexible turret carries an annulus of hollow mandrels for arrays of cigarettes, has a tongs which delivers a flat blank between two neighboring mandrels during each period of dwell of the turret, and such blank is placed against the front side of the mandrel therebehind, as considered in the direction of movement of the turret. A biasing member is installed between each pair of neighboring mandrels, and the biasing member which is adjacent to a mandrel that is contacted by a freshly supplied blank is thereupon moved against the outer side of the blank to urge it against the front side of the mandrel. The blank is then converted into a U-shaped body overlaying the front side and the lateral surfaces of the respective mandrel while it is held by the adjacent biasing member. The marginal portions of the U-shaped body are thereupon folded over each other at the rear side of the respective mandrel and adhere to each other under the action of adhesive which is applied to the outer marginal portion. The respective biasing member is then shifted forwardly to bear against the outer marginal portion of the blank surrounding the preceding mandrel to prevent separation of the marginal portions before the adhesive sets. The biasing members are moved rearwardly by discrete springs and forwardly by a stationary cam. Electromagnets are provided to hold the biasing members in neutral positions during introduction of fresh blanks between the respective mandrels.
