    Abstract: A drive switching device includes: a covering member that is rotatably provided on a support shaft provided in a housing including a driver, and is rotatable from a closed position for covering an inside of the housing to an open position for exposing the inside of the housing; an input unit that is provided in the covering member, and receives an input of displacement caused by rotation of the covering member; a release member provided in a direction apart from the input unit inside the housing and including a cam that moves in conjunction with movement of the input unit, the release member being configured to, upon rotation of the covering member toward the open position, disconnect a drive transmission path of the driver by the cam; and multiple links connected to the input unit and the cam, the multiple links being configured to, upon rotation of the covering member, move the cam in an opposite direction to a direction in which the input unit is moved.

    Abstract: A sheet feeder includes a support to support a roll sheet winding a sheet, a sensor that is at a first position on the support and contacts a surface of the roll sheet to detect a level difference at a trailing edge of the roll sheet and output a first signal and a second signal, a roller that is at a second position different from the first position in a circumferential direction of the roll sheet on the support and contacts the surface of the roll sheet to guide the roll sheet, and circuitry to cause the roll sheet to rotate in a sheet feeding direction to feed the sheet, and detect the trailing edge of the roll sheet based on the first signal output from the sensor, and the second signal output from the sensor.

    Abstract: A device is provided for feeding sheets to a sheet-processing machine having at least one processing mechanism. A feeder head is provided for cyclically separating the sheets from a pile of such sheets and has transporting suckers for transporting the sheets to a belt table. The belt table has at least one revolving transport belt which is guided over at least two feed rollers. A first drive is assigned to at least one feed roller and a sheet flap, which is connected to a pivotally mounted shaft, is provided between the transporting suckers and the at least one transport belt. A second drive is assigned to the shaft, for pivoting that shaft. A sheet arrival sensor, which is arranged between the belt table and the processing mechanism, generates first signals representing the arrival of the sheets for a sequence of sheets. A clock generator generates second signals representing the angular position of the at least one processing mechanism, and has a controller, which controls the first drive as a function of the second signals and which controls the second drive as a function of the first and second signals.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises an accommodating unit that accommodates recording materials and a feeding unit that feeds an accommodated recording material, detects a fed recording material, and measures time from a predetermined timing until a recording material is detected. An information processing apparatus receives measured time data from the image forming apparatus, classifies the received plurality of time data into a first group and a second group in accordance with a length of time, selects a group for predicting a remaining life time of the feeding unit from the classified first group and second group, and predicts a remaining life time of the feeding unit using time data included in the selected group.

    Abstract: A sheet conveying apparatus includes: a first pair of conveying rollers for conveying a sheet; a second pair of conveying rollers against which the leading edge of the sheet conveyed by the first pair of conveying rollers is hit and which conveys the sheet together with the first pair of conveying rollers by rotating after a loop is formed on the sheet; a separating portion for separating the first pair of conveying rollers; a first conveyance path for guiding the sheet; a second conveyance path which is a path different from the first conveyance path and guides the sheet; and a controller which changes a separation timing at which the first pair of conveying rollers is separated after the loop is formed on the sheet, depending on whether the sheet is guided by the first conveyance path or by the second conveyance path.
