Abstract: In an embodiment, a polyurethane comprises the residues of i. an aliphatic diisocyanate, ii. an aliphatic diol comprising a poly(ethylene oxide) moiety, iii. an aliphatic diol comprising a polycarbonate moiety, and iv. a chain extender, wherein the polyurethane has a melting temperature of 140° C. or less and has a weight average molecular weight of from 100,000 to 500,000 g/mol. In an embodiment, the polyurethane is substantially devoid of catalyst. In an embodiment, the polyurethane is formed by reactive extrusion. In an embodiment, a medical device comprises the polyurethane and a bioactive agent. The medical devices, methods, and polyurethanes may exhibit benefits in end-product biostability, drug release profile, health and safety, and processing speed or reproducibility.

Abstract: A faced polyisocyanurate foam board comprising a halogen-free foam made from a halogen-free foam formulation comprising isocyanate, polyol, and phosphorus-containing flame retardant, and 1.06 to 1.66 kg/m3 (30 to 47 g/ft3) of glass fiber distributed in the foam throughout the thickness of the board; wherein the polyisocyanurate foam board has a trimer content of 11 to 19.5 weight percent, at least 0.1 weight percent phosphorous, and as measured by ASTM E84, a Flame Spread Index of 0 to 25 and a maximum Smoke Development Index of 450 or less.

Abstract: A high-resilience PU spring sponge and a preparing method thereof are provided. The high-resilience PU spring sponge includes a sponge main body and high-strength springs. A top portion of the sponge main body defines a sponge top surface. First grooves are defined on the sponge top surface. A bottom portion of the sponge main body defines a sponge bottom surface. Second grooves are uniformly defined on the sponge bottom surface. The preparing method includes a mold preheating and mold pretreatment step, a material mixing pretreatment step, a slurry introducing step, a slurry foaming curing and demolding step, and a natural curing and finished product processing step. The second grooves are defined on the sponge main body after the sponge main body is cured and the second grooves are formed through the perforated columns. Each of the first grooves is communicated with a corresponding second groove.

Abstract: Water-based polyurethane dispersion methodology relating to a chain-extended polyurethane, characterized in that the polyurethane dispersion includes 2, 5, 7, 10-tetraoxaundecane. The water-based polyurethane dispersion is suitable as a non-hazardous water-based coating composition for coatings with a particularly good adhesion on plastic or rubber substrates. The solvent 2, 5, 7, 10-tetraoxaundecane contained therein imparts good film coalescing, good adhesive properties and high strength of the polyurethane dispersion.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing rigid polyisocyanurate foams, wherein (A) polyisocyanates are mixed with (B) compounds having isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms, (C) flame retardants, (D) blowing agents, (E) catalyst at an isocyanate index of at least 220 to afford a reaction mixture and cured to afford the rigid polyisocyanurate foam, wherein the component (B) comprises at least one aromatic polyester polyol (b1) and at least one polyether polyol (b2), the polyester polyol (b1) has an average total functionality of ≤3.0 and ≥1.7 and the polyether polyol (b2) has a hydroxyl number of 160-350 mg KOH/g and is produced by alkoxylation of a starter or starter mixture having an average total functionality ≤3.5 and ≥1.5, wherein as the alkylene oxide for producing polyether polyol (b2) at least 80%by weight of ethylene oxide is employed and comprises at least 90% primary hydroxyl end groups and wherein the mass ratio of the component (b1) to component (b2) is ≤3 and ≥1 and the blowing agent (D) comprises chemical and physical blowing agents, wherein the chemical blowing agent is selected from the group consisting of formic acid-water mixtures and formic acid. The present invention further relates to a rigid polyisocyanurate foam obtainable by the process according to the invention.
