Abstract: A method of making a biodegradable thermal insulation composite based on poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) includes immersing powdered date palm fibers in a silane-grafting solution to produce silylated date palm fibers. The silylated date palm fibers are then suction filtered, washed with deionized water, and dried. The silylated date palm fibers are then melt extruded with poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) pellets to produce the biodegradable thermal insulation composite. The biodegradable thermal insulation composite may then be hot-pressed in a mold and may be further annealed. Alternatively, polylactic acid or poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) is dissolved in chloroform to form a solution. The solution is heated and poured on a volume of powdered date palm fibers such that a surface thereof is completely covered with the solution. The covered date palm fibers are then melt extruded with poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) pellets to produce the biodegradable thermal insulation composite, followed by hot-pressing in a mold and annealing.

Abstract: A polyimide resin composition includes a polyimide resin (A) including a repeating structural units of formulas (1) and (2). The content ratio of the repeating structural unit of the formula (1) with respect to the total of the repeating structural units of the formulas (1) and (2) is 20 to 70 mol %. The polyimide resin composition further includes a fatty acid metal salt (B) including a fatty acid having 12 to 36 carbon atoms and optionally having a hydroxy group and at least one of an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, and a transition metal: wherein R1 represents a divalent group having 6 to 22 carbon atoms containing at least one alicyclic hydrocarbon structure; R2 represents a divalent chain aliphatic group having 5 to 16 carbon atoms; and X1 and X2 each independently represent a tetravalent group having 6 to 22 carbon atoms containing at least one aromatic ring.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a composite material. The composite material includes 20 to 40 weight percent (wt. %) of a polymerizable component; 6 to 40 wt. % of ceramic fibers; and 30 to 70 wt. % of nanoclusters. Each of the ceramic fibers has a diameter and a length, the ceramic fibers having an arithmetic mean diameter of 0.3 micrometers to 5 micrometers, and the length of fifty percent of the ceramic fibers (based on a total number of the ceramic fibers) is at least 10 micrometers and the length of ninety percent of the ceramic fibers is no greater than 500 micrometers. The present disclosure also provides a method of making the composite material. The method includes obtaining components and admixing the components to form a composite material. Further, the present disclosure provides a method of using a composite material including placing a composite material near or on a tooth surface, changing the shape of the composite material near or on a tooth surface, and hardening the composite material. In addition, the present disclosure provides dental products and kits. Hardened composite materials can exhibit high strength.

Abstract: A non-painted thermoplastic resin composition including viscose rayon so as to embody a marble pattern and a method for making it are disclosed. The viscose rayon is included in the thermoplastic resin composition to minimize the deterioration of physical properties while minimizing weld lines and flow marks during an extrusion process, and a luxurious outer appearance of a marble pattern is embodied without additional post-processing or painting process. The non-painted thermoplastic resin composition includes 80-90 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin composition, 0.1-5 parts by weight of a carbon fiber, and 0.1-3 parts by weight of viscose rayon based on 100 parts by weight of the entire resin composition. The viscose rayon provides an effect of minimizing weld lines and flow marks during injection, improving physical properties, and providing the luxurious appearance of the marble pattern.

Also provided are a cured product of the epoxy resin composition, a fiber-reinforced composite material, and a high-pressure gas container containing the fiber-reinforced composite material.

Abstract: A degradable composite, a wind turbine blade, and a manufacturing method of the wind turbine blade are provided. The degradable composite includes 30% to 40% of a degradable epoxy resin composition, 45% to 55% of a fiber raw material, 0% to 20% of a core material, and 0% to 10% of an epoxy structural adhesive in mass percentages. The degradable epoxy resin composition includes a degradable modified resin. A degradable epoxy resin is adopted as a structural layer to manufacture a wind turbine blade that has excellent mechanical properties and conforms to the requirements of blade designs and the environment, health, and safety (EHS) standards in the industry. Because the degradable epoxy resin is used, the manufactured composite component can be degraded and separated under appropriate conditions to recover a resin liquid and a fiber raw material, and the recovered resin liquid and fiber raw material can be recycled.
