摘要： A polyester composition includes, based on the total weight of the polyester composition, a first polyester and a second polyester, wherein a weight ratio of the first polyester to the second polyester is 80:20 to 20:80, preferably 60:40 to 40:60; 5 to 60 weight percent (wt %), preferably 5 to 50 wt % of a reinforcing filler; and 5 to 60 wt %, preferably 10 to 50 wt %, more preferably 20 to 50 wt % of an inorganic filler having a specific gravity of greater than 3 grams per cubic centimeter, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792, wherein a molded article comprising the polyester composition has a sound transmission loss of greater than 30 dB, preferably 35 to 50 dB, more preferably 36 to 45 dB, as determined at 1,250 Hz according to ASTM E1050 using a molded disc with a diameter of 100 mm and a thickness of 3.2 mm.

摘要： Benzyl ether-type phenolic resins are useful in either a phenolic resin polyurethane cold-box (PUCB) process or a phenolic resin polyurethane no-bake (PUNB) process. The benzyl ether-type phenolic resins contain at least one formaldehyde scavenger in the form of a beta-dicarbonyl compound, and an alpha-carbonyl-carboxyl compound, particularly glyoxylic acid, binders based on these phenolic resins, and isocyanate compounds having at least two isocyanate groups. The resins having the inventive concept exhibit low free formaldehyde content. The inventive concept extends to molding material blends containing the binder, and a method for producing cores, molds or risers.
