摘要: A powder composition is used for the fabrication of casting inserts, designed to produce local composite zones resistant to abrasive wear. The composite zones are reinforced with carbides and borides or with mixtures thereof formed in situ in castings. The powder includes powder reactants of the formation of carbides and/or borides selected from the group of TiC, WC, ZrC, NbC, TaC, TiB2, ZrB2, or mixtures thereof. The carbides and/or borides forming after crystallization particles reinforces the composite zones in castings. The powder composition further includes moderator powders in the form of a mixture of metal powders, which after crystallization form matrix of the composite zone in casting. A casting insert is disclosed for the fabrication in casting of local composite zones resistant to abrasive wear. A method for the fabrication of local composite zones in castings uses for this purpose the reaction of the self-propagating high temperature synthesis (SHS).

摘要: Graphite-containing brass alloy billets having less than 0.25 wt. % lead and a method of manufacturing relating thereto are provided. The method includes forming a brass powder and mixing the brass powder with graphite and one or more binders. The brass powder contains copper and zinc and may be formed using water atomization. The brass-powder mixture is compacted to form an initial billet. The initial billet may be subjected to one or more heating treatments. A first heating treatment may be used to remove the one or more binders. An optional second heating treatment may be used to deoxidize the binder-free billet. An optional third heating treatment that includes applying a pressure may be used to densify the binder-free billet. A third heating treatment may sinter the compact to form the workable graphite-containing brass alloy billet.

摘要: A method of forming cemented tungsten tetraboride, by combining tungsten and boron in a molar ratio of from about 1:6 to about 1:12, respectively, and firing the combined tungsten and boron in a hexagonal boron nitride crucible at a temperature of from about 1600 C to about 2000 C, to form tungsten tetraboride, milling the tungsten tetraboride to a powder, adding a metal binder to the tungsten tetraboride powder to produce a metal-tungsten tetraboride mixture, compressing the metal-tungsten tetraboride mixture, and sintering the compressed metal-tungsten tetraboride mixture to form cemented tungsten tetraboride.

摘要: A cathode material for use in a high-pressure discharge lamp contains a matrix based on tungsten having a tungsten content of greater than or equal to 95% by weight, tungsten carbide, and oxides and/or predominantly oxidic phases of one or more emitter elements from the group of rare earth metals, Hf, and Zr. The cathode material additionally contains predominantly carbidic phases of the one or more emitter elements from the group of rare earth metals, Hf, and Zr. A high-pressure discharge lamp would contain such a cathode composed of the above cathode material.
