摘要: The current invention is directed to a method and apparatus for defibrillating cellulose fibers achieved through single or multiple passes of raw or pre-processed cellulose fiber slurry with a preferred solid material consistency range of 35% to 55% through twin-screw fiber processing machines. During this processing operation fiber slurries are optionally further enhanced with additional fiber and mineral additives to optimize performance of the material for specific end purposes. The hyper defibrillated fiber slurry produced can be defined as one reaching a Schopper-Riegler (SR) level between 75 SR and 85 SR and/or producing a pressed, dried board with a density of preferably at least 850 kg/m3.

摘要: An integrated system and method for removing excess nutrients from water, for removing the nutrients from the removal site, for enhancing soil, and for producing pulp and paper products includes bioremediating water to be treated with cultured algae or another suitable plant matter in an attached periphyton bed, harvesting the algae/plant matter to produce a wet algal biomass, and mixing the wet biomass with a shredded fibrous material to produce a pulp. The pulp can be molded into a biodegradable package that can be utilized as a delivery vehicle to a site having nutrient-enrichable soil, where the package can be used as a soil amendment after being used as a delivery vehicle. The pulp can also be made into a paper product that is biodegradable and has the characteristic of enhancing soil quality.

摘要: The invention relates to a procedure for determining a quantity dependent on the rate of diffusion in the fibre wall for diffusion occurring through it, in which procedure a diffusible tracer is introduced into the fibres under measurement, the fibres are suspended in an aqueous phase and the tracer concentration is determined after a certain time has elapsed since the time of suspension of the fibres, and the quantity dependent on the rate of diffusion is calculated on the basis of the concentration and time.In addition, the invention relates to a procedure for determining the proportion of secondary fibre in a fibre suspension containing primary fibre and secondary fibre, in which procedure virtual diffusion coefficients are determined in the fibre wall for diffusion taking place through it in at least two fibre suspensions for which the proportions of primary and secondary fibre are known and in a fibre suspension under measurement, and that the proportion of secondary fibre in the suspension under measurement is estimated by assuming that the diffusion coefficient depends mainly linearly on the proportion of primary and secondary fibre in the fibre suspension.

摘要: Novel fiber bundles may be produced as a by-product of sugar cane or other plants. These fiber bundles may be spun into a yarn, or formed into a non-woven mat. The non-woven mat is useful, for example, as a biodegradable geotextile for inhibiting erosion while allowing plants to become established on roadsides, or in other applications. Sugar cane fiber bundles were extracted from the Tilby-separated rind of cane stalks using alkaline treatments. The amount of lignin removed was dependent on alkaline concentration and time, pressure of treatment, and steam explosion conditions if employed. Agitation and vigorous boiling affected the lignin removal. Alkali concentration significantly affected the mechanical properties of the fiber bundles. Tenacity, toughness, and linear density were higher for the fibers extracted at lower alkali concentration. Bending rigidity and hysteresis of these fibers were also higher. This process is also expected to work with other plant stalks having a high lignin content.

摘要: Fines, pins, and over-thick wood chips are separated from wood chip material by using a series of three roller screens having chip agitating and conveying protuberances. The screens are arranged and adapted such that over-thick chips are separated by the first screen, fines are separated by the second screen, and pins are separated by the third screen.

摘要: A disk screen, and method wherein the material, such as wood chips for making paper pulp, is screened through a rotary disk screening bed (12) having zones wherein the space between disk slots (20) decreases from zone to zone as the material passes from the inlet end to the outlet end of the screen. Such spaces may range in zones from 8 mm to 6 mm along the screening bed (12).

摘要: A METHOD FOR PULPING TIMBER IN THE WOODLANDS TO SAVE THE COST OF TRANSPORTING FELLED TIMBER TO A PULPING MILL. PORTABLE EQUIPMENT CAN BE TRANSPORTED TO THE SITE ON A MEMBER OF TRAILERS OR LOW LOADERS AND THESE CAN PRODUCE DRIED PULP FOR DELIVERY DIRECT TO THE USER. THE GREAT HEAT USED IN PULPING THE TIMBER AND IN COOLING THE ENGINE DRIVING THE PULPER CAN BE USED FOR DRYIG THE PULP.
