Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an engine assembly for a vehicle. The engine assembly comprises an engine including an extended crankshaft with additional main bearings, an alternator or a generator, a drive chain assembly, and a starter motor assembly. The engine may be used in different models of the vehicle having different characteristics, which enables to interchange or replace an internal generator with an external alternator, and vice versa in addition enable to use a common starter motor assembly, crankshaft, crankcase, and drive chain assembly for both engine configuration without modifying a basic design of the engine. Further, placement of the starter motor assembly provides a compact arrangement. In addition, the extended crankshaft with the additional main bearings enables low noise level operation, avoids additional shafts and roller bearings to be attached, and cost effective. Similarly, the drive chain assembly produces less vibration and noise.

Abstract: A method of operation of exhaust valves of an adjustable exhaust port 2-stroke motorcycle engine with a two stage exhaust valve system includes: providing a control rod mechanically coupled to a governor, so that the governor causes a rotation of the control rod. A first stage exhaust valve, a second stage left exhaust valve, and a second stage right exhaust valve are also controllably linked to the control rod; and operating the second stage left exhaust valve and the second stage right exhaust valve by opening at least one of the second stage left exhaust valve and the second stage right exhaust valve before the first stage exhaust valve is completely open in an overlap operation. Related methods and structures for overlap, and/or stagger, and/or limiter operation of exhaust valves of an adjustable exhaust port 2-stroke motorcycle engine are also described.

Abstract: Efficient energy storage is provided by using a working fluid flowing in a closed cycle including a ganged compressor and turbine, and capable of efficient heat exchange with heat storage fluids on a hot side of the system and on a cold side of the system. This system can operate as a heat engine by transferring heat from the hot side to the cold side to mechanically drive the turbine. The system can also operate as a refrigerator by mechanically driving the compressor to transfer heat from the cold side to the hot side. Heat exchange between the working fluid of the system and the heat storage fluids occurs in counter-flow heat exchangers. In a preferred approach, molten salt is the hot side heat storage fluid and water is the cold side heat storage fluid.

Abstract: A combustion engine for a vehicle includes a device for changing the timing of suction/relief valves with respect to the drive shaft. The device includes a first disc idly mounted to the camshaft and has a first side defining first slot tracks. A second disc is integral with the camshaft and includes second slot tracks facing the first side of the first disc. Drive elements transmit motion between the first disc and the second disc and each is accommodated between corresponding two of the partially facing tracks. As centrifugal forces caused by the rotation speed of the camshaft changes, each drive elements moves between a first reference position and a second reference position which are close to and far from the rotation axis of the camshaft, respectively. A phase changer device exerts a force which tends to oppose movement of said drive elements towards the second reference position.

An intake multi-staged valve (IMV) and exhaust multi-staged valve (EMV) provide intake and exhaust flow control for the IVC/IVP and EVC/EVP. An enhanced system may include a variety of intake/exhaust port seals (IPS/EPS), forced induction (FIN), forced discharge (FID), centrifugal advance (CAD), and/or cooling channel spool (ICS/ECS).
