The piston comprises an oil drainage groove provided in the outer circumferential surface of the piston between a ring belt and a piston skirt of the piston, the piston skirt being provided with two recessed pin boss portions on opposed sides of the piston, wherein the piston skirt is further provided with at least one oil drainage duct arranged between the two recessed pin boss portions at an outer surface of the piston skirt and configured to fluid-communicatively connect the oil drainage groove with the recessed pin boss portions.

    摘要: A piston arrangement (12) for an internal combustion engine (10) comprises one or more pistons (14) which are at least partly constructed from a technical ceramic material. An axially disposed bore (20) for receiving a heat transfer member (22) is provided in at least one of the pistons (14). The heat transfer member (22) is reconfigurable from a first, solid, state to a second state in which at least part of the heat transfer member (22) is in a liquid state so as to transfer heat away from and thus cool the piston rod (16) as the piston reciprocates. A cylinder arrangement (46) for the internal combustion engine (10) comprises one or more cylinders (48) which are at least partly constructed from a technical ceramic material. One or more grooves (54) are formed in the cylinder (48), to decrease the thermal gradient between the inside and outside of the cylinder (48). A piston (14) for the internal combustion engine (10) comprises a piston rod (16) and a piston crown (18) which is at least partly constructed from a technical ceramic material. An insulation arrangement (40) between the piston rod (16) and the piston crown (18) comprises segments (42) configured such that when disposed on the piston rod (16) axial slots or spaces are defined between the segments (42).

    摘要: A steel piston with an engineered coating is provided. A high thermal conductivity material, for example copper, is disposed on first regions of a combustion bowl to reduce hot spots in the piston. A low thermal conductivity material, for example a ceramic, is disposed on second regions of the combustion bowl to reduce loss of heat through the piston. The high thermal conductivity material disposed on the combustion bowl has a surface roughness (Ra) of less than 5 μm to help reflect IR radiation and promote fuel flow. The low thermal conductivity material disposed on the combustion bowl has a surface roughness (Ra) of less than 3 μm to promote fuel flow. The low thermal conductivity material is also disposed on the bowl rim and top ring land, and has a surface roughness (Ra) of greater than 8 μm on the bowl rim and top ring land to retard gas flow.

    摘要: Linear generators with a piston having a valve are described herein. The linear generator includes a combustion module and at least one linear motor. The linear motor includes at least one piston having: a piston head with an opening therein; a piston skirt opposed to the piston head; a piston side wall extending between the piston head and the piston skirt, the piston side wall having at least one port therein. The piston also includes a valve mechanism movable relative to each of the piston head, the piston seat and the piston side wall. The valve mechanism includes a valve stem extending through the piston skirt and the interior piston volume into a mover shaft of the motor, and a valve head coupled to the valve stem and configured to cover the opening of the piston head.
