    摘要: Various embodiments may include a method for operating a diesel-common-rail piezo-operated servo injector comprising: partially charging the piezo-actuator from a non-charged state at 0 V (method a); partially discharging the piezo-actuator from an already charged state to a remaining limited charge (method b); measuring the piezo-voltage with both methods and comparing the results; when the comparison demonstrates correspondence within a predefined threshold, using method b in ranges in which method a cannot be carried out; and when the comparison does not demonstrate correspondence within the predefined threshold, using method a without using method b.

    摘要: It is widely appreciated that renewable sources of energy are desirable. In particular, in recent years the development of biodiesel has been encouraged in order to find a replacement for fossil fuels in internal combustion engines. Typically, such biodiesel is based on triacylglycerols of vegetable origin. Animal fat, due to its different chemical composition and production process presents additional challenges when attempted to be used as a source of fuel. Most known methods require extensive processing of naturally occurring fats in order for them to be usable in conventional engines. According to the present invention, there is provided a method of oxidizing organic fats within an internal combustion engine to generate power by applying a first electrical charge to an oxidizer (e.g. air) and applying a second electrical charge to the organic fat opposite in polarity to the first electrical charge. In this way, constituents of the organic fat to be oxidized are attracted to the oxidizer, in preference to an interior surface of the combustion chamber. Thus, carbonization of the interior surface of the combustion chamber is reduced, as material contributing to carbonization is retained within exhaust gas.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber. The chamber includes a body that is movable in the chamber to vary the chamber volume and contains a catalyst. First valving is operable to admit an intake gas into the chamber and second valving connected with an aqueous fluid supply system is operable to admit an aqueous fluid and a steam reforming fuel into the chamber. A controller is configured to cause the second valving to admit a aqueous fluid and an amount of the steam reforming fuel into the chamber and when a predetermined condition exists in the chamber during compression of the intake gas to absorb heat generated by the compression of the intake gas in the presence of the catalyst to promote a steam reformation process to separate hydrogen from the steam reforming fuel or the aqueous fluid.

The injector housing defines a nozzle chamber, a pressure chamber, and a measuring chamber. The pressure chamber is configured to be hydraulically connected to the feed line. The nozzle needle is disposed in the nozzle chamber and is configured to open and to close at least one spray hole. The force sensing element is disposed in the measuring chamber and is configured to detect a pressure in the pressure chamber. The measuring chamber is separated from the pressure chamber by a diaphragm-like intermediate wall. The force sensing element supports the intermediate wall.

    摘要: An example system can include a radio-frequency power source and a resonator. The resonator can be configured to be electromagnetically coupled to the radio-frequency power source and can have a resonant wavelength. The resonator can include: a first conductor, a second conductor, and a dielectric between the first conductor and the second conductor. The resonator can also be configured such that, when the resonator is excited by the radio-frequency power source with a signal having a wavelength proximate to an odd-integer multiple of one-quarter of the resonant wavelength, the resonator provides at least one of a plasma corona or electromagnetic waves. The system can also include a fuel conduit configured to couple to a fuel source and having one or more outlets for expelling fuel, where at least a portion of the fuel conduit is arranged proximate to the dielectric.
