摘要: A method of melting a charge in a double-pass tilt rotary furnace having a door, including operating a first burner at a first firing rate, the first burner being mounted in a lower portion of the door and producing a first flame having a length; operating a second burner at a second firing rate, the second burner being mounted in an upper portion of the door and producing a second flame having a length, the second flame being distal from the charge relative to the first flame; in an initial phase when the solids in the charge impede the first flame, controlling the second firing rate to be greater than the first firing rate; and in an later phase after melting of the solids in the charge sufficiently that the first flame is not impeded, controlling the first firing rate to be greater than the second firing rate.

摘要: Systems/methods for continuous operation of fixed bed reactors using gaseous fuels for the purpose of power generation through integration with a combined cycle power plant are provided. The fixed bed reactors are assumed to operate in a semi-batch mode composed of reactor modules that are integrated into module trains that comprise the chemical-looping combustion island of the power plant. The scheduling of each reactor train is cast as an optimization problem that maximizes thermodynamic efficiency subject to constraints imposed to each reactor and the entire island. When the chemical-looping reactors are arranged cyclically, each feeding to or being fed from another reactor, in an operating scheme that mimics simulated moving bed reactors, the thermodynamic efficiency of the reactor island can be improved. Allowing the reversal of module order in the cyclically arranged reactor modules further improves the overall thermodynamic efficiency (to 84.7%), while satisfying constraints imposed for carbon capture, fuel conversion, power plant safety and oxygen carrier stability.

摘要: A insert for a staged fuel burner and processes for using a burner with the insert. The insert has a burner tip that injects a mixture of primary fuel and combustion air into a combustion zone to produce a flame. A staged fuel is also injected into the combustion zone. Prior to being injected into the combustion zone, from the burner tip, the staged fuel, is injected into the burner tip and draws combustion air from the mixer of the burner insert into the burner tip with the staged fuel.

摘要: A method for burning primary fuel (F1), wherein the primary fuel (F1) comprises at least a first compound containing nitrogen and a second compound comprising sulfur. The method comprises producing primary combustion gas (G1) having a temperature of at least 450° C. and comprising oxygen; feeding the primary fuel (F1) and the primary combustion gas (G1) to a primary process zone (Z1) of a furnace (200); feeding tertiary combustion gas (G3) to a secondary process zone (Z2) of the furnace (200); letting the primary fuel (F1), the primary combustion gas (G1), and/or their reaction products to move from the primary process zone (Z1) via the secondary process zone (Z2) to a tertiary process zone (Z3) of the furnace (200); and feeding quaternary combustion gas (G4) comprising oxygen to the tertiary process zone (Z3) of the furnace (200). An embodiment comprises collecting the primary fuel (F1) from a pulp process. A corresponding system.
