摘要: A metal fixing material leadthrough for igniters of airbags and/or belt tighteners includes at least one metal pin fused into a glass or glass-ceramic fixing material in a through-opening of a main body. The metal is present in a post-heated state, with an interface between the fixing material and the metal pin and an additional interface between the fixing material and an inner surface of the through-opening. The at least one metal pin, at least in its core region, consists of stainless steel, such as a chromium-containing stainless steel, the stainless steel having a thermal expansion coefficient.

摘要: A long range jacketed projectile has a cavity defined in the base end of the projectile core that is substantially filled with polymer material during the jacketing process. The cavity is configured to lighten the core, which lightens the overall weight of the projectile, and move the center of gravity closer to the center of pressure when compared to a conventional long range projectile. The polymer jacket lightens the projectile weight, which when combined with the lighter core, allows the projectile to attain a flatter trajectory at increased maximum velocities.

摘要: A method involves determining an expansion charge able to selectively expand, without perforating or cutting through, a wall of a tubular in a wellbore. The method includes determining conditions in the wellbore, including hydrostatic pressure bearing on the tubular in the wellbore, and a physical characteristic of the tubular. At a second location other than the wellbore, at least one of the conditions determined in the wellbore is reproduced, and a test tubular is provided at the second location. A test expansion charge able to expand, without perforating or cutting through, the wall of the test tubular, is determined based on the determined conditions. The determined test expansion charge is positioned within the test tubular, and is then actuated to expand the wall of the test tubular radially outward, without perforating or cutting through the wall, to form a test protrusion in the wall of the test tubular.

摘要: A cartridge with an expanding bullet that has advantageous terminal effects over an extended range. The expanding bullet including a bullet body including a metal jacket extending from a tail portion to a nose portion and surrounding an interior solid core and defining a forward opening and interior cavity. A tip has an exterior surface substantially flush with an exterior surface of the metal jacket. The tip has a main portion forward of the opening and a tip retention portion that at least partially fills the interior cavity. In certain embodiments the tip retention portion includes one or more fluid entry facilitation means such as a fracture regions configured to, upon impact of the bullet with a target, fracture or deform to expose one or more fluid pathways into the interior cavity and to a forward facing interior surface for initiating expansion of the expanding bullet.

摘要: Ammunition for a toy blaster may be infused with or otherwise contain a bittering agent, such as denatonium benzoate. Addition of denatonium benzoate to ammunition formulations may reduce the likelihood that the ammunition may be ingested by children. Ammunition may be formed of a superabsorbent polymer or hydrogel. By introducing a non-toxic bittering agent into the superabsorbent polymer or hydrogel that may form the ammunition, it may be more likely that children may spit out the ammunition instead of swallowing the ammunition. Denatonium benzoate may comprise approximately 50 parts per billion of the superabsorbent polymer or hydrogel, but may comprise approximately 1 to 100 ppb. When used in these low concentrations, the ammunition may be safe for a child to put in his/her mouth, but given the taste of denatonium benzoate, its inclusion as part of the ammunition formulation may act as an aversive agent.
