The sensor system includes a plurality of sensors that are configured for detecting forces exerted by a user's foot on the sensor. The sensor system also includes a port that is configured to receive a module to place the module in communication with the sensors. The port includes a housing with a chamber configured to receive the module and an interface engaged with the housing and having at least one electrical contact exposed to the chamber. Additional retaining structure and interface structure may be included.

摘要: A parallel guide of a force transmission device has movable and fixed parallel legs, and first and second parallel guiding elements. Thin-point flexional bearings connect the parallel legs to the parallel guiding elements. The movable parallel leg is guided by the parallel guiding element on the fixed parallel leg. A force transmission lever, arranged on the fixed parallel leg, has a lever bearing, and a first lever arm. The force transmission lever is pivotably mounted on the lever bearing and the first lever arm is connected to the movable parallel leg to transmit force. The force-transmitting connection is produced by a coupling element having at least one further thin-point flexional bearing, with at least one functional region of the force transmission device being formed monolithically. A functional region associates at least one bearing point with at least one of the parallel legs, the force transmission lever, and the coupling element.

摘要: A system includes a sensor network comprising a network of optical sensors coupled to structural members of a structure loaded by vehicles or by an environmental event. A processor is operatively coupled to the sensor network. The processor is configured to receive the strain measurements from the network of optical sensors, calculate total strain energy using the received strain measurements, detect a heavy load on the structure in response to the total strain energy exceeding a total strain energy threshold developed for the structure, and determine whether the heavy load results from a superload vehicle or the environmental event. A transmitter is operatively coupled to the processor and configured to transmit one or both of an alert and a condition assessment report for the structure to a predetermined location in response to determining that the heavy load results from the superload vehicle or the environmental event.

摘要: Gravity-actuated display systems suitable for use as security markers, for example to incorporate into bank notes. The devices can be made very thin and flexible, yet are robust enough to endure the harsh conditions of paper currency in general circulation. Because the displays are gravity actuated, they do not require a power source or circuitry. The gravity-actuated displays can be fabricated using microembossing or photolithography and can be filled and sealed using roll-to-roll techniques. The microcells can also be patterned to provide custom designs, such as official seals.
