    Abstract: A gas sensor device including a sensing component for detection of first gas analyte, electronic circuitry, and a communication system, wherein the electronic circuitry is configured to control operation of the gas sensor device and to measure a concentration of the first gas analyte based on a signal from the sensing component, the electronic circuitry further being configured to control operation of the gas sensor device based upon an operational status of the gas sensor device determined at least in part on information received via the communication system based upon output from at least one sensor located at a different position from the gas sensor device.

    Abstract: Systems and methods include a computer-implemented method for inspection. Sensors are installed on locations susceptible to high temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA) on equipment used in hydrocarbon facilities. Attachment uses adaptable hybrid pads. Surface data captured using permanent sensors includes surface temperatures, per hydrogen (pH) measurements, and methane measurements for methane escaping from external surfaces of the equipment. Stress cracks in the equipment base metal are detected. An HTHA susceptibility analysis of the equipment is performed based on the presence of the cracks and by analyzing surface data and mapping potential HTHA cracks and locations of early signs of methane formation, including monitoring heat-affected zones (HAZ) and fusion lines of welds. Locations of the detected stress cracks caused by HTHA in metals are determined. An inspection result and assessment are generated, including a final analysis of assessment reports indicating a likelihood of cracks propagation and fissuring inside the equipment base metal.

    Abstract: An agricultural machine has a capacitive sensor that includes a transmitter assembly having a signal driver, at least one guard driver, and at least one sensing circuit configured to detect an output of the signal driver. At least one sensing electrode is powered by the signal driver. At least one guard electrode is powered by the guard driver. The guard electrode is oriented such that a first electric field emanating from the sensing electrode is shaped at least in part by a second electric field emanating from the guard electrode. A method includes broadcasting a first electric field from a sensing electrode into a volume containing crop material, broadcasting a second electric field from a guard electrode, measuring an attribute related to the first electric field, and correlating the measured attribute related to the first electric field to a property of the crop material in the volume.

    Abstract: A system for measuring a target gas via laser absorption spectroscopy in an open-air configuration, comprising a mid-infrared distributed feedback interband cascade laser (mid-IR DFB-ICL) having a wavelength selected to correspond with a spectral absorption line of the target gas and first electronic circuitry to control the laser temperature, current and modulation frequency. The mid-IR DFB-ICL is mounted to a heat sink. The system includes an optical component that projects a beam of the mid-IR DFB-ICL onto a distal backscattering directionally-reflective target and an optical receiver assembly that receives a fraction of the laser light that is backscattered from the directionally-reflective target and focuses the collected light onto an uncooled photodetector having a spectral bandwidth and optical configuration selected to optimize signal-to-noise response to received laser light. The optical receiver assembly comprises a primary mirror for receiving laser light backscattered from the directionally-reflective target and focusing the collected light onto the uncooled photodetector.

    Abstract: A system may include a gas mixing apparatus configured to generate a gas mixture and fill a gas reservoir with the gas mixture; a constant volume combustion chamber configured to receive the gas mixture from the gas mixing apparatus; and perform a combustion test on a test sample using the received gas mixture; and a controller. The controller may be configured to select a target oxygen concentration for the gas mixture; measure an oxygen concentration in a inlet air gas source received by the gas mixing apparatus; control a nitrogen gas flow and an inlet air gas flow from the inlet air gas source to fill the gas reservoir with the gas mixture having the selected target oxygen concentration; and output the gas mixture from the filled gas reservoir for use in the combustion test.

    Abstract: A monitoring system (100) with a gas measuring device (72) as well as to a process for operating a monitoring system (100). The monitoring system (100) is used to monitor the breathing gas supply of an airplane pilot in an aircraft. The principal components in the breathing gas (10) are formed by air (5), i.e., essentially defined quantities of oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and moisture or water vapor. On the one hand, information on the exact quantity of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the breathing gas mixture is essential to assess whether a breathing gas mixture for an airplane pilot meets specific requirements. The monitoring system (100) with the gas measuring device (72) offers possibilities for obtaining indications or estimates (44) in respect to possible contaminations by additional components in the breathing gas supply of an airplane pilot.
