摘要: p80 is a cancer/proliferation-related protein identified as being present in bodily fluids or tissues (including blood) of humans or animals afflicted with pre-malignant, malignant cells/tissues or proliferative conditions. The methods of the present disclosure provide a new diagnostic marker for screening of cancers and proliferative conditions. The present application discloses screening, diagnosis, and monitoring of these conditions by novel Point-of-Service tests. The addition of p80-bound tubulin testing is also claimed. Additionally, the present application discloses targeted treatment of cancer and proliferative conditions utilizing p80 binding agents, via a variety of delivery vehicles such as nanoparticles. The claims apply to application in domestic or wild animals.

摘要: A system and method for detecting, enumerating, or extracting microorganisms in a sample is disclosed. Target microorganisms, such as Salmonella bacteria, may be of interest. Magnetic beads may be bound to the target microorganisms. After which, the bead-bound cells may be isolated. For example, a magnetic field may be applied in order to separate the target cells (with the magnetic beads attached thereto) and move then to a predetermined section of the well. Agar, or other immobilizing agent, may be added to the wells in order to immobilize the target cells. After which, the target cells are incubated and periodically analyzed to determine whether the target cells are growing, thereby indicating that the microorganisms are contained within the well.

摘要: The disclosure concerns bacterial cell counting devices, systems and methods thereof. The bacterial cell counting device comprises at least one cartridge for containing reagents; an inlet for introducing a sample containing bacterial cells into the device; an optofluidic chip separately in fluid communication with the cartridge and the inlet; a filter strip passing through the optofluidic chip and in fluid communication with the cartridge and the inlet, the filter strip for trapping or retaining bacterial cells on its surface such that the bacterial cells can interact with the reagents as they flow through the filter strip; and a controller for controlling a sequential flow of reagents and sample to the filter strip via the optofluidic chip. The optofluidic chip is capable of detecting a colorimetric and/or fluorescence output emitted from the bacterial cells modified by the reagents in order for the bacterial cells to be quantified relative to a control.

摘要: An indicator of a first type and an indicator of a second type are attached to a unit of a chemical component in a sample to form a first multi-indicator complex. The first multi-indicator complex includes the unit of the chemical component, the indicator of the first type, and the indicator of the second type. The indicator of the first type and the indicator of the second type have different discernible characteristics. An image of the sample, including the first multi-indicator complex corresponding to the unit of the chemical component, is captured by an image sensor. Based on a first image of the sample, a count is generated of multi-indicator complexes that include an indicator of the first type and an indicator of the second type, including the first multi-indicator complex. Based on the count, a presence or a level of the chemical component in the sample is identified.

摘要: The present invention provides a portable handheld medical screening device designed to facilitate health, medical research, and health-security screening measures at hospitals, emergency rooms, medical facilities, offices, meeting rooms, sports training facilities, health clubs, restaurants, small shops and for service providers, etc., i.e., places associated with healthcare and interactions between persons unknown to each other in settings where disease, public health, research data collection, disease contagion, and/or disease detection and/or monitoring are a concern. The invention provides several formats of self-contained devices with flexible attachment that collects ambient emissions, especially volatile compounds, produced by a subject (medical patient or one or more persons interacting with each other). In a clinical setting, the device monitors gas compounds produced by the subject, analyzes the monitored gases to determine patterns of emitted gases, compares these patterns to libraries of patterns associated with a disease or condition, and reports the associations.

摘要: The present invention provides methods, systems and kits for performing microwell analysis in sealed small volumes. The microwells of the invention are sealed through the pairing of microwell and bead geometry wherein the diameter of the beads is greater than the diameter of the bottom of the microwells. Loading the beads into the microwells seals samples within an analytical space between the bottom of a nested bead and the bottom of the subject microwell.
