摘要: A method for imaging a sample, wherein the sample changes a polarization state of light as a function of position, wherein the method includes changing a polarization state of a purely polarized light of an incident light striking a micro-retarder array, thereby inducing a changed polarization state of the polarization state. The micro-retarder array is placed in a rear conjugate focal plane of a microscope. The method additionally includes projecting the changed polarization state of the polarization state into an object plane of the microscope containing the sample.

摘要: A microscopic image capturing method includes: emitting a light beam from a light beam light source; detecting a spot image by a camera or a photodiode; focusing the spot image by an objective lens actuator moving an objective lens in the optical axis direction of the light beam with respect to a sample container; determining by a reflective surface identification unit whether the light beam has been applied to a defect on the basis of the spot image; when it is determined that the light beam has been applied to the defect, moving by an XY stage the sample container with respect to the objective lens in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis of the light beam in accordance with a prescribed condition; and, when the light beam has not been applied to the defect, capturing a microscopic image of a sample by using an illuminator.

摘要: A power off delay system and method is configured to delay termination of electrical power to a digital pathology device in a power off condition. If the apparatus includes a UPS, the power off delay system and method delays termination of electrical power when a power switch is turned off and when a catastrophic power failure occurs. During the delay of the termination of electrical power, the digital pathology device is configured to control the scanning stage system and the glass slide conveyor system and the slide rack conveyor system to place each of these systems into a known state and position all glass slides into a known position prior to the termination of electrical power to the digital pathology device. This allows the digital pathology device to resume normal operation upon power up.

摘要: Devices and methods to measure cells and/or tissue's contractile force are disclosed. Included is a mount with rigid, and non-rigid posts sized to flex. Determined is force exerted by contractile cells and tissues in a multiwell plate. The device is designed to fit inside individual wells with posts directed downwards. Posts are attached to a 3D printed circular mount with tabs for depth within the well. The mount has a window for medium changes while the device is positioned inside the well. The cells are seeded within a hydrogel. As the hydrogel condenses, cells/tissue wrap around the post's outside pulling non-rigid post toward rigid post. Inverted light microscope is used to determine deflection of non-rigid post inside the multiwell plate. Movement of the non-rigid post is measured using an acrylic ruler on an underside of the multiwell plate. Contractile forces of cells/tissue are determined using cantilever mechanics.

摘要: A microscope stage comprising a planar base (1) with two or more parallel grooves (2) formed extending in a first direction (5). A carriage (3) is mounted on the base with at least two projections (4) that slide in the grooves. The carriage receives a microscope slide or other sample holder (6). The carriage includes at least one guide and a biasing means (7) to urge the sample holder against the guide while permitting it to move relative to the guide in a second direction (8) orthogonal to the first direction.

摘要: Apparatuses and methods are described for detecting inclusions in glass. The apparatuses and methods employ a laser that is configured to project a laser sheet at a first angle from one side of a glass sheet, and a camera configured to capture images from a second angle from another side of the glass sheet. The glass sheet is moved thorough the laser sheet while the camera captures images. One or more processing devices execute image processing algorithms to identify areas of the glass sheet containing inclusions based on the captured images. In some examples, the identified areas of the glass sheet are revisited to confirm they contain inclusions.

摘要: A sample holder system for holding a microscopic sample in a microscope system comprises a first and a second rotation element, which are rotatably connected to one another. The side surfaces of the two rotation elements in each case enclose an angle α, with the result that the rotation elements have a wedge-shaped cross section. The second rotation element is configured to receive a sample, while the first rotation element can be rotatably connected to a holder receiving surface. The rotation elements are each rotatable by an angle β about a rotation axis. The inclination of the third side surface on which the sample can be received is settable by combining all of the involved angles α and β.
