摘要: Systems and methods are described for the global, rapid, and automatic detection of wildfire activity. Such systems and methods may also classify wildfires based on a new severity classification scheme. Wildfire activity may be tracked as wildfires migrate, grow, and combine. Additionally, because satellite systems currently collect over 4 million fire observations per year, a filtering mechanism is introduced to remove benign anthropogenic fires. To classify wildfire severity for generating alerts, the present disclosure also provides a logarithmic severity classification system based on 24-hour cumulative Fire Radiative Power (FRP).

摘要: One variation of a method for detecting a fire includes: during a first time period: detecting an increase in ambient light intensity and detecting an increase in ambient humidity; responsive to the increase in ambient light intensity and the increase in ambient humidity, detecting a fire event; during a second time period: correlating a decrease in ambient light intensity with an increase in visual obscuration; detecting an increase in ambient air temperature; in response to a magnitude of the increase in visual obscuration remaining below a high obscuration threshold and a magnitude of the increase in ambient temperature remaining below a high temperature threshold, classifying the fire as an incipient fire; and, in response to the magnitude of the increase in visual obscuration exceeding the high obscuration threshold and the magnitude of the increase in ambient temperature exceeding the high temperature threshold, classifying the fire as a developed fire.

摘要: A flame detector for an aircraft includes a housing and two sensors positioned in the housing to detect light signals indicative of a flame event. The two sensors include a first sensor configured to detect light signals in at a first infrared wavelength range, and a second sensor configured to detect light signals at a second wavelength range. A controller is configured to receive signals from the two sensors, and to determine the presence of the flame event only if the signals indicative of the flame event are received from both of the two sensors. A method of detecting a flame event includes providing two sensors in a detector housing. A detection area is observed via the sensors, and detection signals received from the sensors are evaluated at a controller. The presence of a flame event is determined only if detection signals are received from both of the two sensors.

摘要: In accordance with one or more embodiments herein, a flame detecting arrangement 100 is provided. The flame detecting arrangement 100 comprises: at least one optical flame detector 110, arranged with its field-of-view covering a predetermined area; at least one movement sensor 120, arranged together with the at least one flame detector 110; and at least one processing device 180 arranged together with the at least one flame detector 110. The at least one processing device 180 is arranged to: receive signals from the movement sensor 120; detect abnormal movement of the flame detector 110 based on these signals; and alert an operator and/or a control system 200 if abnormal movement of the flame detector 110 has been detected. This enables the field-of-view of the flame detector to be corrected to the desired, preferably the original, field-of-view.

摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus for metrological detection of a fire-like phenomenon (1), in particular a spark, flame or embers or hot particle phenomenon in a reservoir (2) through which media flows or which is loaded with media, comprising a measurement arrangement (4) configured to record measurement data, the measurement arrangement (4) comprising a first and a second measuring unit (11, 12) for the detection of electromagnetic radiation (5) emitted by the fire-like phenomenon (1) in a first or second wavelength range, respectively, optionally comprising a third measuring unit (13) for detecting ambient light (7) as well as optionally comprising a sensor unit (14) for the measurement of media-specific or environment-specific measurement data.
In order to reduce the risk of false alarms with such an apparatus and to improve the detection and risk assessment of fire-like phenomena, it is proposed to provide a checking means (8) that is adapted to check at a current time point (tA) on the basis of measurement data recorded by the measurement arrangement (4) and/or stored medium- or environment-specific characteristic data, whether an adjustment criterion (A) is satisfied, wherein if the adjustment criterion (A) is satisfied, a measurement sensitivity (M1, M2, M3) or an operating parameter (P1, P2, P3) of at least one of the measuring units (11, 12, 13) can be adjusted adequately for the situation using a control means (10).
Furthermore, a method for the metrological detection of fire-like phenomena (1) and a system for needs-based and reliable elimination of a hazardous state produced by a fire-like phenomenon is proposed with the invention.
