    摘要: A method is provided for judging whether a double-sided optical disc is placed reversely. Firstly, the disc is loaded. Then, a first optical pickup head emits a first laser beam to a first specified area of the disc and receives a first reflected laser beam. A second optical pickup head emits a second laser beam to a second specified area of the disc and receives a second reflected laser beam. If the first reflected laser beam generates an alternate brightness and darkness change and the second reflected laser beam does not generate the alternate brightness and darkness change, the disc is not placed reversely. If the first reflected laser beam does not generate the alternate brightness and darkness change and the second reflected laser beam generates the alternate brightness and darkness change, the disc is placed reversely.

A threshold laser current is determined. An optimal laser current is determined. The threshold laser current and the optimal laser current are stored in memory. The steps of determining a threshold laser current, determining an optimal laser current and storing the threshold laser current and the optimal laser current into the calibration table are repeated until acceptable device performance is achieved at more than one operating temperature.

    摘要: A disk drive is disclosed comprising a head actuated over a disk, wherein the head comprises a laser operable to heat the disk while writing data to the disk. A laser power of the laser is initialized, and a test pattern is written to the disk. The test pattern is read from the disk to generate a read signal, and a quality metric and a track width of the test pattern is measured based on the read signal. The laser power is adjusted and the process is repeated until at least one of the quality metric substantially matches a target value and the track width substantially matches a track width threshold.

The inspection system may include software and hardware to prevent crashing of the lens.
