摘要: A multi-layer multi-leaf collimation system includes at least a two layers of collimation leaves. The first multi-leaf collimator layer is configured to primarily perform a first function to affect a radiation beam traveling from a radiation source to a target and a second multi-leaf collimator layer is configured to primarily perform a second function, different from the first function, to affect the radiation beam for the administration of a treatment plan.

摘要: An x-ray chopper wheel assembly includes a disk chopper wheel and a source-side scatter plate that has a solid cross-sectional area that absorbs x-ray radiation and is substantially smaller than a solid cross-sectional area of the disk chopper wheel. The assembly also includes a support structure that secures the source-side scatter plate substantially parallel to the disk chopper wheel, with a source-side gap between the scatter plate and the disk chopper wheel being a distance that substantially prevents x-ray leakage. An additional, output-side scatter plate may also be provided to reduce x-ray leakage further. Embodiments enable safe operation while significantly reducing weight, which is advantageous for a variety of disk-chopper-wheel-based x-ray scanning systems, especially hand-held x-ray scanners.

摘要: An MLC may include a plurality of leaves configured to shape a radiation field, and a plurality of driving assemblies each of which is configured to drive one of the plurality of leaves to a desired target position for shaping the radiation field. The driving assembly associated with a leaf may include a driving component configured to drive the leaf toward a desired first position with a speed exceeding a speed threshold; and a braking component configured to stop the leaf within a time period in response to a determination that the leaf arrives at the desired first position. In some embodiments, the time period of the braking component for stopping the leaf may be less than a time threshold.

摘要: Typically modulation systems are incapable of performing synchronous modulation for high-energy radiation systems. A method and system for performing high-energy synchronous radiation modulating is described. The method includes providing an oscillatory diffractive element, with the oscillatory diffractive element capable of being oscillated over a range of angles. A radiation source provides radiation to the oscillatory diffractive element. An electrical signal is provided to electrodes that oscillate the oscillatory diffractive element to modulate the radiation. A temperature controller controls the temperature of the oscillatory diffractive element to tune the oscillatory motion of the oscillatory diffractive element.

摘要: A tuning method for a collimator of a CT machine, which, in each cycle of X-ray scan operation and stop, may include determining whether an X-ray is generated from the anode plate; calculating the Z-direction heating displacement of the slot plate during the current scan based on a detected X-ray, driving the slot plate to move by the heating displacement in the Z-direction, calculating the total Z-direction heating displacement of the slot plate at the end of the current scan, calculating the cooling displacement of the slot plate during the current stop based on the stop time of the X-ray, and driving the slot plate to move.

摘要: An x-ray imaging apparatus includes a holdable housing; an x-ray source mounted within the housing and configured to output a fan beam of x-rays; and a hoop chopper wheel rotatably mounted within the housing and comprising an x-ray attenuating material configured to block x-rays of the fan beam. The hoop chopper wheel defines a set of beam apertures of which each aperture is configured to pass therethrough a corresponding angular portion of x-rays from the fan beam, so that rotation of the hoop chopper wheel causes scanning of the corresponding angular portion of x-rays. The x-ray source may be a transmission-type x-ray tube configured to output the fan beam centered in an x-ray extraction direction forming an angle greater than 0 degrees with respect to a longitudinal axis of the x-ray tube.

摘要: A control circuit optimizes a radiation treatment plan for a patient treatment volume using an automatically iterating optimization process that optimizes as a function, at least in part, of predetermined cost functions, wherein at least one of the cost functions favors apertures for the multi-leaf collimation system having local curvature that deviates only minimally from a reference curvature. By one approach the control circuit determines the reference curvature as a function, at least in part, of at least one of setting the reference curvature to a static minimal local curvature, a shape of a projective mapping of the treatment volume onto an isocenter plane, and/or a fluence map associated with an amount of radiation to be administered to the treatment volume from a particular direction. By one approach the control circuit dynamically determines when to employ one or more such cost functions.
