摘要: A method includes receiving, by an RF receiving circuit of a passive wireless sensor of a wireless communication system, an RF signal. When a sensing element of the passive wireless sensor is exposed to an environmental condition, the method further includes affecting, by the sensing element, resonant frequency of the RF receiving circuit. The method further includes determining, by a processing module of the passive wireless sensor, a first value for an adjustable element for a known environmental condition, determining a second value for the adjustable element for an unknown environmental condition, determining a difference between the first and second values that correspond to a change, generating a coded value representative of the change, and transmitting the coded value. The method further includes receiving, by a second processing module of a sensor computing device of the wireless communication system, the coded value and determining a sensed environmental condition.

The connecting terminal (514) is configured to be coupled with the electrode (120) disposed on a housing (100) of a mechanical equipment; the detection circuit (210) is coupled to the connecting terminal (514) so as to detect the distance between the electrode (120) and the external conductor or a change of the distance between the electrode (120) and the external conductor according to the capacitance between the electrode and the external conductor or a change of the capacitance between the electrode (120) and the external conductor, thereby obtaining an electrical signal representing the distance between the electrode (120) and the external conductor or a change of the distance between the electrode (120) and the external conductor.

摘要: Exemplary embodiments relate to a control circuit for a base station for transmitting energy to a receiver by means of an electric resonant circuit. The control circuit comprises an evaluation device which is designed to compare energy that has been transmitted to a receiver resonant circuit of the receiver with an energy set value. The control circuit is designed to alter the energy input into the receiver resonant circuit of the receiver by altering a resonant frequency of the resonant circuit on the basis of the result of the comparison.

摘要: A method includes receiving, by a radio frequency identification (RFID) receiver, an electromagnetic propagated radio frequency (RF) signal. The method further includes capturing, by a current field strength detector circuit, a first current response of the tuning circuit to received signal strength of the RF signal; varying, by a tuning circuit, the variable capacitor in a first tuning direction; capturing, by the current field strength detector circuit, a second current response of the tuning circuit to the received signal strength of the RF signal; and comparing, by the current field strength detector circuit, the captured first response to the captured second response. When the captured second response is weaker than the captured first response, the method further includes varying, by the tuning circuit, the variable capacitor in a second tuning direction, and adjusting the variable capacitor in the second tuning direction until a substantially maximum received signal strength is reached.

For tuning, the inductor arrangement includes a switch arrangement switchable between a first setting series-connecting the first and third winding parts between the inputs, and a second setting series-connecting the first, second, fourth and third winding parts between the inputs. The first and third winding parts are arranged on a chip or substrate with essentially common magnetic fields, and the second and fourth winding parts are arranged to cancel electro-magnetic coupling with the first and third winding parts.

摘要: A passive wireless temperature sensor includes a radio frequency (RF) front end having a variable input impedance. The RF front end includes an antenna operable to receive an RF signal having a particular carrier frequency and a tuning circuit having a resonant frequency corresponding to the particular carrier frequency. The passive wireless temperature sensor further includes one or more temperature sensing elements coupled to the RF front end. When sensing a temperature, the one or more temperature sensing elements cause a change in the variable input impedance. The passive wireless temperature sensor further includes a processing module operably coupled to the RF front end operable to adjust the resonant frequency of the tuning circuit to compensate for the change in the variable input impedance and generate a coded value representative of the change. The coded value representative of the change corresponds to the sensed temperature.

摘要: An exemplary tunable circuit includes an inductor coupled to a node and a first capacitor coupled to the node. The tunable circuit also includes a variable capacitor coupled to the node, such that a total capacitance of the tunable circuit depends on a fixed capacitance of the first capacitor and a variable capacitance of the variable capacitor. In an example, the inductor and the first capacitor are both included in a passive device and the variable capacitor is in a semiconductor device. The variable capacitor allows the total capacitance to be modified for the purpose of, for example, calibrating the capacitance to account for manufacturing variations, and/or adjusting to a frequency range of operation used by wireless devices in a region of the world. The first capacitor may be a higher quality capacitor providing a larger portion of the total capacitance than the variable capacitor.

Tunable inductors and/or tunable capacitors may be used in filters, resonant circuits, matching networks, and phase shifters. Ability to control inductance and/or capacitance in a circuit leads to flexibility in operation of the circuit, since the circuit may be tuned to operate under a range of different operating frequencies.
