Abstract: The invention, which is concerned with a system for releasing cutlery for a diner is characterized in that the system comprises a hand disinfectant dispenser connected to a locking mechanism of the cutlery, means for sending a signal from the hand disinfectant dispenser, receiving means in the locking mechanism for receiving the signal and a locking mechanism for locking the cutlery and releasing it to the diner on the basis of the received signal.
