A food processor comprising a closure, said closure including at least two separable components (1, 2) assemblable to define a closure volume in an assembled state, one of said components including a portable power source, a rotary motor (31) driven by the portable power source (32), and a rotary formation (5, 7) projecting into the enclosure including a food manipulation formation (7), the rotary formation being rotatable in use by the motor to cause the food manipulation formation (7) to act on food within the closure volume in use.
Abstract:
A dead plate assembly (3) for a distributor for the routeing of containers from a first conveyor directed in a first direction to a second conveyor directed in a second direction at an angle to the first conveyor is described. The assembly is used in a distributor (59) comprising transportation members (71,73) adapted to engage with and transport each container around a desired path; a common guide formation (72) in conjunction with which said transportation members are mounted so as to be guided around a continuously curved path during the transfer of the containers from the first to the second conveyor, such that the containers are maintained thereby on said continuously curved path; and a dead plate (58) arranged in the continuously curved path between the first conveyor and the second conveyor upwardly presenting a smooth transfer surface across which conveyed containers may slide in a transfer zone along the continuously curved path. The dead plate has an associated longitudinal drive (88-90) to reposition it over time and for example cyclically relative to the curved path. A method of operation is also described.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for the treatment of contaminants in a contaminated fluid are described. The apparatus comprises a containment volume through which fluid to be treated can be passed in use; particulate organo/inorgano clay selected to provide a reactive medium for chemically binding with the contaminants; and a slurry disperser to cause particulate organo/inorgano clays to form, in use, a fluidised dispersion within the volume the apparatus by forming a suspension of particulate reactive clay in a suitable suspension liquid and passing this into the volume to form, in use, a dispersed mist within the volume.
Abstract:
A laundry tag is described comprising a first male portion (1) having at least one projecting member (3), and a second female portion (2) defining a recessed region (4) to receive the projecting member and fixedly engage thereupon to hold the two portions together, wherein one of the said portions comprises a passive RFID transponder (7). A laundry tagging kit and laundry management system and a method of tagging laundry to operate such a system are also described.
Abstract:
A composite conducting material is described comprising a non-conductive polymeric base material, and for example a geosynthetic or like material, in association with at least one primary conducting electrode element comprising a metallic core element coated with a coating of mixed metal oxides such as oxides and/ or suboxides of tantalum, niobium, iridium, palladium, ruthenium, rhodium, titanium and mixtures thereof. The material disposed as an electrode, for example in an electrokinetic circuit, for the treatment of materials such as highly watered and/or highly saline substrates by electroosmosis, is also described.
Abstract:
A control mechanism for a retractable reeled tape comprising tape (7) wound on a rotatably mounted spindle (5) so as to be retractably deployable therefrom to selected lengths, said control mechanism comprising: a pawl (13) and tooth (10) arrangement bearing on the spindle such as, when engaged, to permit rotation of the spindle (5) in a direction whereby tape (7) is wound onto the spindle, but to obstruct rotation of the spindle (5) in a direction whereby tape (7) is unwound therefrom; and a clutch mechanism (16) operable to disengage the pawl (13) such that, with the pawl (13) so disengaged, the spindle (5) is free to rotate in either direction. A barrier tape dispenser incorporating such a control mechanism, a tape barrier system comprising multiple such dispensers, and a temporary barrier incorporating such dispensers on suitable uprights, are also described.
Abstract:
