    Abstract: A process for the production of potassium sulphate by conversion of potassium chloride and sulphuric acid using a muffle furnace, said furnace comprising a reaction chamber and a combustion chamber, wherein in the reaction chamber potassium chloride (KCI) and potassium hydrogen sulfate (KHSO 4 ) are reacted to form potassium sulphate while supplying heat to the reaction chamber from the combustion chamber, wherein the combustion chamber has at least a pair of regenerative burners and wherein the process comprises the steps of alternatingly causing one of the regenerative burners to perform a combustion operation in the combustion chamber to heat the reaction chamber and another of the regenerative burners to perform a heat-regenerating operation in a regenerator, wherein the pressure in the combustion chamber is kept at a pressure of between 0.2 and 3 mbarg.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a soluble fertilizer composition for use in foliar application or fertigation containing (i) a potassium and sulfate containing powder and (ii) a boron powder compound, wherein the fertilizer is a NPK-SB of the type ≥0 – 0 – >15 – >42 – >0.1 for the potassium sulfate borate fertilizer, in which N is calculated as N, P as P 2 O 5 , K as K 2 O, S as SO 4 and B as B. The fertilizer composition is a powder in which about 5 wt% or less has a particle size of larger than 1 mm and is applied as foliar spray or by fertigation.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a film comprising gelatin as film former and an effective amount of surfactant to provide a retarded dissolution rate at low pH, in comparison to the dissolution rate at neutral pH. In particular, the effective amount of surfactant is such to provide a dissolution rate such that 50% or less of a film is dissolved within 120 minutes at 37º C at a pH of about 1, while more than 50% of the film is dissolved in 45 min or less at pH 6.8 at 37°C. The surfactants include anionic surfactants, cationic surfactants, non-ionic surfactants and amphoteric surfactants. A preferred film comprises gelatin and about 8 wt.% or more on dry weight basis of an anionic surfactant having a C8-C24 alkyl chain.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a fertilizer in granular form comprising within the same granule a mixture of: (A) From 15 to 85 wt% of a potassium sulfate; and (B) From 85 to 15 wt% of at least one salt that is different from (A) and that provides potassium and/or magnesium and/or calcium and/or sulfate; wherein the fertilizer in granular form has - a potassium level (expressed as K2O) of at least 18 wt%, preferably at least 20 wt%; - a chloride level of at most 10 wt%, preferably at most 5 wt%, more preferably at most 3 wt%; - a magnesium level (expressed as MgO) of at most 10 wt%, preferably at most 9.5 wt%.
