The invention relates to a method for dissolving the components of gel forming materials suitable for use in wound care comprising the steps of admixing said components with an ionic liquid. The ionic liquid may be selected from the group of tertiary amine N-oxides, N,N-dimethyl formamide/nitrogen tetroxide mixtures, dimethyl sulphoxide/paraformaldehyde mixtures and solutions of limium chloride in N,N-dimethyl acetamide or N-methyl pyrrolidone.

The invention concerns a fabric useful in apparel and garments comprising an intimate blend of staple fibers, the blend of fibers comprising 55 to 95 parts by weight of a polypyridobisimidazole fiber having an inherent viscosity of greater than 20 dl/g and a tensile modulus of greater than 120 GPa (820 gpd); and 5 to 45 parts by weight of a flexible fiber having a tensile modulus of less than 10 GPa (70 gpd).

A novel knitted or woven fabric manufactured using at least one solution dyed or pigmented yarn, preferably polypropylene, which will not accept any type dye normally used to dye knitted or woven fabrics, and at least one yarn that will accept at least one dye normally used to dye knitted or woven fabrics. The fabric with this combination of yarns is dyed, and only the last mentioned yarn accepts the dye. Novel and pleasing effects can be achieved.

A variety of embodiments are disclosed, in both apparatus and method form, that relate to the use of fabric material in the manufacture of an air bag deployment system. In addition, fabric weakening is disclosed according to a technique that does not result in physical alteration of the fabric. This invention therefore includes an air bag cover for an air bag safety system for a vehicle comprising a fabric outer layer having a frontside and a backside and a substrate containing an opening wherein the opening has a periphery. The substrate is preferably formed by low pressure molding, wherein the fabric outer layer overlies the opening in the substrate, and wherein the fabric outer layer is weakened at a location that is adjacent or overlies the substrate opening periphery.

Die Erfindung betrifft das neue Gebiet der "wearable electronics" insbesondere ein in eine Faser integriertes elektronisches Bauteil, ein Gewebe für ein Textil mit zumindest einer Faser mit integriertem elektronischem Bauteil, ein Herstellungsverfahren und Verwendungen dazu. Durch die Erfindung wird erstmals textiles Gewebe vorgestellt, in dem elektronische Bauteile in den Fasern des Gewebes selbst integriert sind. Die Fasern werden dabei als leitende oder isolierende Elemente der Bauteile genutzt.

Disclosed is a method of copolymerizing polyethylene glycol and branching agent into polyethylene terephthalate to achieve a polyethylene glycol-modified polyester composition that can be spun into filaments. Fabrics made from fibers formed from the copolyester composition possess wicking, dyeability, and tactility properties that are superior to those of fabrics formed from conventional polyethylene terephthalate fibers of the same yarn and fabric construction. Also disclosed are polyethylene glycol modified copolyester compositions, fibers, yarns, and fabrics.

Flame resistant fabrics are formed by warp and fill yarns having different fiber contents. The fabrics are constructed, for example, by selection of a suitable weaving pattern, such that the body side of the fabric and the face side of the fabric have different properties. The fabrics described herein can be printable and dyeable on both sides of the fabric and are suitable for use in military and industrial garments. Methods of forming flame resistant fabrics, and methods for forming garments from the fabrics, are also described.
