    Abstract: Compression devices and methods for compression assisted percutaneous procedures are described for use in conjunction with imaging and surgical procedures. The devices and methods, as taught herein, are particularly useful for displacing small or large bowel or other structures interfering with percutaneous procedure(s) in the abdominal or pelvic regions of a mammalian subject, which cannot be reliably performed using existing methods. The described devices and methods are a low-cost and clinically effective solution to the inadequate methods that currently exist.

    Abstract: A compression device (2) is used for compression of the descending abdominal aorta (36) of a patient. The device (2) comprises a rigid mounting member (6), an extendable pressure member (26), and a support structure (8) which comprises a base portion (10) and at least two side arms (12) connected to or arranged to be connected to the rigid mounting member (6). The pressure member (26) is mounted so as to be extendable relative to the rigid mounting member (6) along an extension axis (22), and the rigid mounting member (6) extends laterally away from the extension axis (22) in at least two directions. The device (2) is arranged such that when connected around the abdomen (34) of a patient in use, the extendable pressure member (26) is able to apply a continuous pressure to the abdomen (34) of the patient and therefore stop or decrease blood loss caused by post-partum haemorrhage, without the support structure (8) applying a lateral pressure to said patient.

    Abstract: There is described a device for applying an adjustable and simultaneous compression on vessel access points. The device comprises a frame comprising a body with at least two cavities through the body to be placed about surfaces of a patient corresponding to the at least two cavities. At least two compression members are movably fitted in the cavities, wherein a portion of the frame defines a space into which a portion of the compression member is fitted and around which it hinges. A non-circumferential tissue compression device includes a base configured to, when on a wrist of a patient, surround at least a portion of the wrist in a non-circumferential configuration, and an expandable member coupled to the base. The non-circumferential configuration is shaped to allow a clinician to fit the tissue compression device onto the wrist, orient the tissue compression device to engage the wrist, and to enable the expandable member to be inflated without becoming disengaged with the wrist. The expandable member is configured to be positioned over, and apply pressure to, an ulnar region, a radial region, or both before, during, and/or after a transradial access procedure.

    Abstract: An apparatus for applying point-pressure to a wound site that helps occlude open blood vessels. The apparatus being comprised of a pressure applicator, a mounting plate, articulating strap attachment points, and counter-pressure cavities. The articulating strap attachment points attach to straps around a patient's body in such a manner that the apparatus is stabilized over a patient's wound. Moreover, the counter-pressure cavities permit a user to apply leverage caused by counter-force mechanism (while also applying a downward force on the pressure applicator). These features enable a user to quickly and easily apply point pressure to a wound site.

    Abstract: A tourniquet (10, 310) includes: a baseplate (14, 314) with first and second ends; a strap (12) having first and second ends, a first portion adjacent its first end, and a second portion adjacent its second end; a lever (16) with proximate and distal ends, the proximate end pivotally connected to the baseplate (14, 314), the distal end free. The strap first end is pivotally connected to the lever (16). A connector assembly is operable to selectively connect the second portion of the strap (12) to the baseplate (14, 314), thereby forming a closed loop with adjustable free length.     Abstract: An apparatus for intermittent vascular occlusion based on a personalized tourniquet pressure (PTP) includes a dual-purpose tourniquet cuff having an inflatable bladder, a sensor module having a pulsation sensor communicating pneumatically with the inflatable bladder for sensing and characterizing pressure pulsations indicative of a distal occlusion pressure (DOP) to identify a minimum pressure at which penetration of blood past the cuff is stopped, a PTP estimator responsive to the pulsation sensor for producing an estimate of a PTP, wherein the estimate of the PTP is a function of the DOP, an effector module communicating pneumatically with the inflatable bladder for maintaining pressure in the bladder near the PTP during a first time period and for maintaining pressure in the bladder near a second level of pressure during a second time period, and a controller selectively operating the inflatable bladder in conjunction with the sensor module and the effector module.
