Abstract:
Method and system for removal of soot, ash and heavy metals, and optionally additionally NO x and SO x being present in exhaust gas from an engine operated on heavy fuel oil with sulphur content 0.1% -4.0 wt% and a heavy metal element content of 5 mg/kg to 1000 mg/kg.
Abstract:
Method and system for removal of soot and ash being present in exhaust gas from an engine. The method comprises the steps of operating the engine at a load to obtain an exhaust temperature of the exhaust gas of at least 325°C; passing the exhaust gas at the exhaust temperature through a particulate filter and capturing the soot and ash in the exhaust gas in the filter; continuously burning the captured soot off the filter by contact with a catalyst being arranged on the filter; periodically reversing flow direction of the exhaust gas through the filter and blowing the captured ash off the filter.
